  1. My thoughts exactly. The idea of a central mod pack loader such as Technic Launcher is a brilliant idea, but for the life of me I cannot understand why these people who make the mod packs try to put as few mods in the pack when the idea should be to include as many mods as possible. I have always rolled my own mod packs. I always added in all my favorite mods and some mods that sound interesting and some mods that I just want to explore. I would never play with only the few mods included in the current Tekkit pack. There are many different kinds of people in this world. Everyone has their own personalities, likes, dislikes, and so on. Some of us love tech. Some love magic. Some are jack-of-all-trades. Some of us are not so creative, and some of us can never have enough colors on our palette. The best mod pack would be one that included the most mods to suit the widest variety of gamers. I think sometimes some people over-think some things when they should simply make all options available and see where the chips may fall. Part of me wonders if the current Tekkit pack isn't a victim of a lack of permissions granted.
  2. I have a private Tekkit server running for about 12 hours now with no issues thus far. I used MCPC+ 1.5.1-R0.3-SNAPSHOT-f682-392. I added Essentials and MCMMO. I am using all the mods, coremods, and configs in the Tekkit 1.03 pack, plus I added in about 20 more mods plus one jar mod. I was not able to get Thaumcraft or Twilight Forest to play nicely with MCPC, so I left them out for now (this is only a test server). I ended up having to change just one ID block, if I remember correctly, and that was ID # 700 from the Project Bench mod. Otherwise, the experience was quite painless. The jar mod I added into my MCPC.jar was Better World Generation 4 (BWG4_FORGE_V105b.zip). Here's a list of the mods I added to Tekkit 1.03: AdvancedMachines_1.5.1.zip BiblioCraft[v1.1.6].zip buildcraft-Z-additional-buildcraft-objects-1.0.3.130.jar chargepads-1.5.1-universal-2.6.1.80.jar extra-bees-1.6-pre4.jar ExtrabiomesXL-universal-1.5.1-3.13.0.jar Factorization-0.7.37.jar FlatBedrock-1.1.1-32.jar forestry-A-2.2.0.1.jar industrialcraft-2_1.115.307-lf.jar mod_AdvancedSolarPanels_3_3_6.zip mod_zGraviSuite_1_9_1.zip Natura_2.0.21.jar PowerConverters-2.3.0-54.jar Railcraft_1.5.1-7.0.0.0.jar SoulShards-v1.27-universal.zip TinkerersConstruct_1.3.2.jar ZansMinimap1.5.1.zip [1.5.1]ProjectBench-v1.7.4.zip
  3. King Lemming, TE is a brilliant and essential mod. I make extensive use of it. TE machines come in VERY handy with Applied Energistics ME systems, and where would we all be without tesseracts, conduits, liquiducts, energy cells, and igneous extruders? The best GUI in the business. I love TE. Now, you are likely working on new code presently, so I won't make the same suggestion that you have surely heard a thousand times already... *cough* tier two/three machines *cough* (LOL, sorry, couldn't resist). An "advanced machines addon" type of thing for TE machines.
  4. I think the sentiment expressed when we see people complain that IC2 has been removed from Tekkit is confused. I think those people actually mean to complain that IC2 has been all but abandoned by its author. I have no doubt that IC2 would be essential in any pack if IC2 authors updated IC2 and made genuine efforts to remove long-standing bugs and improve the product. Sadly, IC2 has stagnated from neglect and RP2 updates are unreliable (and perhaps non-existant). Understandably, mod packs will move forward without those mods. One door closes, another opens. With two of my most favorite mods IC2 and RP2 dying a slow death, there is new fertile ground for modders to fill the void by replacing and improving upon what was lost. Just because one mod makes a drill, jetpack, block breaker, or relay does not mean another mod cannot make a block with that functionality. Redundancy is good for gamers. Competition is good for mod development. I have no doubt we are about to see an explosion of new mod content in the coming months. PS - I am actually more troubled by the absence of Railcraft and Power Converters than I am by IC2 and RP2. (36H boiler > liquid tesseract > steam consumer > bridge > buildcraft (or other) producer > energy tesseract = all the power you could want and more)
