C Cheers, did not yet know about the silk touch/Cinnabar trick, nice find! Going to give it a shot. In the meantime i found a block of platinum ore in the nether quite close to my portal. It gave me 4 shiny dust, more than enough to get those tessarects up and running I also found a few more ferrous ore blocks, they seem to be located at lava caves that are just above bedrock (below 10) and quite often hidden behind other blocks like red stone.

Yesterday i've created a new world with tekkit 1.2.9e and digged around and found a lot of ores including many diamonds and uranium (in many types of biomes including many levels) , but found 1 block of ferrous ore. Did ferrous ore became really rare? Cause in a earlier world from 2 months ago it was not this rare. I need ferrous ore to get shiny metal, cause found spawner chests didn't contain any shiny blocks, nor any mine chests.

Played the new tekkit in normal mode for a couple days and quite liked it. A few things i noticed: creating a big bag required a lot of string, leather is no problem i just builded a cow farm, but string you can only get from spiders, cause you can't macerate/pulverize woll anymore. Was a bit of challenge. i did not build quarries until the end and they are moving very fast and produce a lot of cobblestone. You can't do much with cobblestone. Converting it to iron with the minimum stone depletes the minimum stone very quickly. Maybe a way to actually destroy stone? Just throwing it into lava was already a lot of manual work. i found it a bit easy and was already turning off magma engines cause the power couldn't get anywhere. I did build a lot of redpower cells but 10 seem to be more than enough. Just some thoughts :)
