  1. Since it looks like an error on installation only (for now) and noone knows why, I went ahead and uploaded a fresh install on my google drive. Unzip it in your "AppData\Roaming\.technic" folder if you're on Windows (to access AppData, type %appdata% in windows explorer's address bar). After that, try launching hexxit and see it it works.

  2. Frankly Half the time i get on my computer noone on my skype list is online and i get on frequently, I would love a buddy for Minecraft and Mods, But other games as well! Examples: Battlefield 3+4, Warframe TF2 Medal Of Honor DayZ League Of Legends-

Post Applications on this forum With this layout---

    Name and Age

    Skype

    Gender

    Games your willing to play

    Thanks! <3

What about my willing? I'd love to have friends, but I can never understand these applications :(

  3. As it is right now this thread is pretty useless, as it won't reduce the bug report spam we get in this section. There are no mention of the most common crashes (RAM, unknown character '' in file, etc.), nor any answers to the most common questions (ore depth, "wtf is that floating thing").

The effort is nice, but IMO it would be better to move this to a wiki page where everyone can contribute, as well as have better formatting.

  4. Do you have any antivirus/firewall/other security software? Your download might be blocked by those, which causes the launcher to hang because it's not receiving the files.

If that's not it, then I have no idea what's causing it. My only other recommendation would be to delete your local techniclauncher data and retry.

  5. What version of java are you using? If you don't know, go to this page.

How long are you letting it load? Modpacks take a while to load and while it's loading, the window appears "frozen". Might need to give it more time.

Last question: did you modify the pack in any way? More often than not, that'd be the cause of the error. I'd guess not from your first post, but better make sure now rather than facepalm later.

  6. java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

Assign more RAM to your game/server and increase permgen. If it's your client that's crashing, click the gear on top of the launcher. For a server, your launcher script should look like this:

    java -Xmx4G -Xms2G -XX:MaxPermSize=256M -jar Hexxit.jar nogui
  7. It's not a big deal. I build all my pcs with my bare hands. No rituals before hand

Computer components are fairly resistant to electrostatic discharges (ESD) so using bare hands is fine most of the time, but an easy precaution to take while building a computer is to connect the PSU to the ground (plug it in) then touch it's metal casing every few minutes. That should safely discharge most electric charge you accumulate from your clothes.

Though if you have access to an antistatic wristband, that's preferable. Remember to place the wristband's ground on the same one the computer is using, otherwise it's useless. That means it has to be connect in so way to the case/PSU. A common mistake is to connect the wristband to a random grounded item, while the computer isn't grounded: that won't eliminate ESDs.

/safetytip from a computer engineer. Never hurts to be careful when playing with your new toys :)

edit: mega ninja'd. I'm so late to the party

  8. You're the 6th person reporting this error this week. I wish we had a FAQ or bug report forum.

As HalestormXV pointed, it's most likely an oddity in one of your files (see the quoted part of your bug report below). If deleting/redownloading fixes your pack, I'd appreciate you post back with your fix because no one else has answered to the other threads. Even better, if you could upload that file first I'd like to run some tests on it to find the cause of the error, rather than just a fix.

    java.lang.RuntimeException: Unknown character ' ' in 'C:/Users/OWNER/AppData/Roaming/.technic/hexxit/config/MapWriter.cfg:1'
  9. What do i need to search to find it?

Anything that includes "java" , "path" and "windows"...

    Also, just realized:

    64-bit

    java version 7 update 25 (32 bit)

Kinda hard to know exactly what you're talking about (sentences with context would help...), but if you installed 32bit java on a 64bit OS (Windows??? you never answered that) then that might be your problem.

  10. Well what I am saying is after those 1 to 2 hours the server crashed we all got kicked out and received a pop up, I forgot what it said.. When we went back into the server the items from the hexxit mod disappeared, and basically the variety of mods that come from the mod pack Hexxit all stopped working, I cant really describe it, server crashed and then everything stopped working.

Well then go to that folder, edit that file and click that button.

Really, unless you provide more information, we can't help you. "It crashed and stopped working" isn't information. For all I know, your computer could be on fire.

  11. So basically I got my friend to follow all these instructions on a windows computer and he was successful with making a server where me and my friends played for maybe 1 to 2 hours, but a new problem appeared the problem was that after these 1 to 2 hours of playing his server all of a sudden crashed and all the mods crashed, What does this mean? and How do we fix it?

I'm guessing you need to destroy that one block first, then go to that folder and change that thing. That should fix that problem.

Think I wasn't specific enough? Give me actual information, then I'll be able to figure out a solution or at least give advice.

  13. still not got a fix for this so any help will be much appreciated

From the errors shown in your first post, I can see 2 possible causes:

1)Your configs aren't the same on your client and your server. (most likely)

    Solution: Make them the same.

2)You deleted mods on your client and/or server (less likely)

Solution: Use the default files unless you know what you're doing.

  14. I had installed the version compatible with the current forge in the modpack.

I had installed it as I had multiple times before with winRAR, by c/p the files from the optifine main file to my tekkit.hexxit.jar.

That looks fine to me, although I have not installed it on my pack so I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone else could confirm those steps are correct.

Just to make sure, the pack worked before installing optifine?
