  1. oh that will make the design much more compact - thank you!
  2. hmm - i did try liquiducts - but in the end i ended up using a wooden pipe connected to a magma engine. i have set up a chain of these with a looped pipe that also keeps the magma engines supplied with lava. it was the only way i could pump the lava out and into an energy cube as see here: lava tank to power setup tho i am not sure how efficient this system is it was filling the cubes up pretty quick. so from what you are saying Viktor - if i was able to connect the liquiducts direct to the tank would i still need to pump it out or does it do it automatically? thanks
  3. hi - sorry for the possibly obvious question - but I have googled this and not been able to find anything specific. I have lava overflow going into numerous tanks but simply do not know how to actually use the lava from the tanks when I run out. I have tried using a pump on top, liquiducts on the bottom - but the lava just doesn't flow out. I would like the lava I am pumping out of quarries to be connected to the same line - so when the quarry pool runs out it uses the stored lava in the tanks. if someone can point me to a tutorial for this I would greatly appreciate it. thanks.
  4. appreciate all the ideas! hmmm - tho strangely it does seem that the fastest method is the original vanilla piston elevator. fyi check this out - - absolutely amazing, but well beyond my scope! the turtle sounds interesting Harvey tho i would need to familiarise myself with the language. i checked out some videos of gravity pistons - very halo-like great to get you up to a certain level - but i am not sure how you would get down! thanks again.
  5. yeah it also looks great for making massive sliding doors. the videos i have seen of it seem to move quite slowly - do you know if it is possible to speed it up somewhat? thanks again.
  6. thanks for the suggestions. i am looking for the most futuristic type of elevator. dynamic elevator looks pretty cool and the easiest to setup. but i will still play around with the others.
  7. oh wow - that looks awesome - thanks!
  8. hello, i am looking to build a tower that uses the map's maximum height - it will have a sci-fi theme and i would like it to include some form of elevator / vertical transport. i believe vertical rail is not in this pack - but i am happy to instal any simple mods that will allow me to do something better than using a waterfall or very long diagonal rail track! has anyone had any success with this version of tekkit to achieve something similar? thanks very much.
  9. thanks so much for your responses. i think i am wasting my time then setting up all my chests. i will look at trying to set up an ME network straight away and DSUs especially for cobblestone, dirt, etc. i think i understand your post Prototype - good to hear that you can prioritise where the items are stored. is there any way to control how the ME network interface orders your items? ive noticed on most videos it seems pretty random. seems there is still a fair bit to get my head around - BC is still so new to me. cheers.
  10. hi - i am trying to get my head around AE as i would like to start thinking about setting up a network. however i am not quite sure what i will physically have to do with all my items. currently i have a very ordered storage facility that is pumping from quarries and sorting into chests. once i set up my network - do i have to physically move all these items or can i simply connect each chest to the network via network cable? i would prefer to continue having my items stored separately even tho it seems the AE interface shows everyting in the one window. thanks.
  11. i am running 1.0.6 - i have managed to get mocreatures and optifine working with it - but not sure i want to mess around too much more as it is all working so well. but maybe ill do a backup and give it a go. i guess it depends on how many changes / features it has added - tho tbh i havent even thought of building a rocket yet as ive only just created my first quarry! actualy i have just looked through the files and it seems quite a complicated process. think i will leave it to the experts!
  12. hello, i am quite new to tekkit but absolutely love it. i have found an incredible map and intend to stick with it for some time. thus, updating to a newer version of the pack i figure is out of the question if i dont want to start a new map. is this true? secondly, i notice when i log in to a new game it notifies me of a newer version of galacticraft. is it safe for me to update this or do i need to stay on the current version for tekkit to work? thanks.
  13. oh ok. i will check these out then. cheers.
  14. hi there - i am very new to tekkit - i didnt even know there were bottles! so i have been using buckets to fill the engines. quarry is about 12 x 12 block and i get about a layer done before it breaks down. i will try to figure out how to pump water into them then. do pumps break down also? and if i put a pump in a 2 x 2 water pit, will the water last forever? thanks.
  15. hello - i have tried to get this right for a while but am having issues with steam engines breaking down. i have seena few videos of people setting up a quarry with 3 steam engines and they dont seem to break down. i fill mine up with water and coal and the quarry runs for about 10 seconds before all the engines are smoking. i have googled this but had no luck on how to keep these things running without contstant maintenance. do i need to pipe some water in to each engine to keep them running? any advice would be appreciated. thank you.
