Hey I was having the same trouble and I'm on a Mac. Bothe Tekkit and Hexxit weren't working like discribed above, but I tried this And it worked just fine for the Hexxit, so I tried the same thing for Tekkit, and its working just fine. Hey I was having the same trouble and then I did the above and at first the usually white screen was now a crazy jumble of my entire desktop, but then it went black and then minecraft loaded and now it works. Just thought I'd say that your instructions worked for me. So thanks.
