It takes a lot of work and dedication to run a server properly. Also, a lot of time. I wouldn't want the platform devs to take time out of their already massively busy schedule with their updates to setup and maintain servers for the public that would get swamped and overrun in minutes. According to the livestream, there will be a lot of things that help out server packs in the future. If someone wants to take up the mantle of setting up an official B-Team server network, they could technically do that and display it as such. I just think you are underestimating the amount of time and effort that goes into running a server and over estimating that amount of time that people have after their jobs and other extra curriculars.

Sooooo I'm making some let's plays on my server. They're pretty awesome. I've gotten good feed back so far so I've decided to start showing them off. Seems like a good place to do it. Technic is the best community and I use the launcher and solder for everything. So I should be sharing my stuff here first.

I was learning as I was going. The quality went up exponentially as I released videos. It already started off HD, but it gets even better.
I hope some people check this out and like what they see. There will be a lot more released. I've been knocking these out super fast and have a lot of great plans coming up!

Someone REALLY doesn't like change. Or grammar. Since when are people running off in droves to join the FTB fan club? FTB has literally nothing on Technic. They have some (poorly made) modpacks and a .. second rate launcher in comparison. They do not have Solder. And they don't have any of the other amazing technology that the Technic team has in store. The mods and modpacks that are a part of this community != the sum total of Technic and its future. Technic is a platform, a launcher; a system designed to bring amazing things to the public in a unique and interesting way that makes it much easier for the people behind the scenes and the end users. If you don't like the modpacks that they put together, seriously, get over it and make your own exactly how you want it to be! That is the power that they give you, and for free. In summation, Technic isn't going to "Fall" as you say. They aren't making a grand display as a last move to save themselves from collapse. They are making progress and forging a new way into the future with even more cool things. If you don't have anything constructive to say, sometimes it's best not to say anything.

I'm getting tired of advertising my server on places like planet minecraft, minecraft forums, and FTB, where it mixes with bukkit and people don't understand how modpacks work. Technic already knows the deal. I said FTB because half the time when you advert a server, they delete your post or downvote you to oblivion on Reddit. Real classy gig they have going over there. Most of my best players have come from Technic. I know that increasing the visibility as a "server pack" can only help that in the long run.
You should enlist MrDrKovacic. He can possibly make making custom modpacks easier(as in:1. select the mods you want to put in your modpack. 2.Click ok. 3.enjoy!

Let's not get into that if we don't have to, please - it's more a matter of Andrew doesn't have the right thing installed and it's not intuitive to get the right thing installed because of politics between Apple and Oracle rather than any technical limitation.
He's been rude about it, sure, and after paying the price premium to get a mac it seems strange to complain at the guys who are giving stuff away for free and don't have any say in this particular issue, but that's no reason to be rude back just for the hell of it. He probably in all seriousness just didn't know what the problem was or who to go to.
This is never an excuse to yell at people or be rude. People take their laziness and ignorance out on others like this all over the place. I usually ignore things like this because the OP can't be bothered to do a tiny bit of research on their own and lash out at the wrong people. It's not good to feed into them and yell back, right. But don't reward the screaming child with negative reinforcement by giving into his demands.

I was going to wait until the stream to ask about this, but maybe it's worth saying now. Is it possible to differentiate server specific packs from other mod packs? My pack is designed specifically for a single server and I know there are a lot of other packs just like that. Maybe making some check boxes for pack makers to define their set up could ease in categorizing packs and make searching simpler for users in the long run. Everyone is looking for something different. Some people want to play something cool by themselves or find a fun pack that they can use to make a server on their own. And in the case of my pack, it already comes with the server and you just need to download and log in. Separating these categories could also help make different types of packs with higher quality more visible that might fall under the radar because their scope isn't as grand as some of the more popular packs. Just some thoughts.

That would only matter if you specified the java path specifically for that version of java or if you used the jdk and specified -server or to run in 64 bit mode. If you specify the java path to a specific folder (C:Program Filesjavajre7_u51bin for example) there might be issues for someone with a different version of java using the same batch file. If your friend used the same batch file but a different version of java, such as 32 bit version, the path would be different (C:Program Files(x86)javajre7_u51bin). It is also possible that there is an issue with the environmental variable "path".

Hello! I thought I'd post this here because other server owners know the importance of having a good staff. You might also know people who are in between places looking for a good server to work on. My server is in need of a few admins.

We will only be accepting adults as admins. I am looking for at least two. Only apply if you are seriously considering. All applications should be sent to me via private message through this forum.
You must have a basic understanding of Forge/Bukkit/MCPC+ and be able to describe them clearly in your own words. You must have a basic understanding of how most common mods and bukkit plugins work and have some experience using them (or be able to pick them up easily). You must be friendly to players. So I just gave this server a try. I gotta say the amount of work put into it by Dark_Arcana is just ridiculous and simply amazing. If you like RPG and if you like modded minecraft this is a great place to play, and from what he has planned it will be getting even better.
Will be posting some screenshots of some buildings and places on this server later on. Hope to see more people join in because it will be even more fun playing with a lot of other people!

About the Server and Community:
We are a Minecraft gaming community that plays on an amazing MCPC+ server. We have just about everything you could want or need providing a completely unique experience that you couldn't find anywhere else. Anyone can come and join us, however we are mostly a server with adult players. We would like to invite more adults and/or mature players to join us.
Handcrafted to perfection, DigitalCreep is the best place you will ever play Minecraft. A lot of work has been put into optimizing all of the mods and plugins that are included on the server. Stability is very important. Game play largely includes PvE/SMP elements that mix the world of Forge and Bukkit together seamlessly. If you are looking for PvP, there will be something coming soon after more players join and balancing has been worked on. There is no such thing as a lag/crash free server. MCPC+ is fairly new still and does have some issues. However, it has come a long way and is an amazing server system. We are constantly doing more to make the server run better and have less bugs and issues.
About the ModPack:
This pack was designed to completely overhaul everything about Minecraft and try to make it better. Features include many aesthetic changes to weather, shaders, characters, and GUI. Hundreds of blocks and many more items are added to give a feeling of fullness without being overwhelming. Most of all however, this modpack and server are tweaked to give a strong mmoRPG feeling. We even have magic and a custom leveling system built on top of mcMMO (formulas are different and it's been reworked to integrate Forge blocks and items). Hundreds of mobs, thousands of combinations of tools/weapons and armor, and all complete with party and trading systems that work with Bukkit. This pack was made to work alongside Bukkit in an MCPC+ server.

Ok, I closed the technic launcher and restarted it and it worked. Everything is running perfectly. You have helped me so much the last couple of days. I couldn't have figured it out without your help. I really do appreciate it. Thank you very much

Nope. I made a direct download link in dropbox. If you put it in your browser, it auto downloads. But it still returns the same zip error in technic.

Ok, so after much work and a few more changes to the pack, it's finished. It works perfectly and we're satisfied that all of the bugs are worked out. It runs well in server and client. However, I still get the same zip error in the technic launcher. I am at a total loss. Here is a dropbox link to the completed pack:

Alright. I found two mods that do it automatically on startup for server and client.
If I resolve the ID conflicts, have everything at 1.6.4, have everything properly organized, the download link works, and the updated pack works in client and server, what could cause it to not work in the technic launcher specifically?

Do I just change the ID's to a random really high number that isn't already taken?

I have made a lot of updates to the pack since yesterday and have yet to post a dropbox. I think I should wait until I fix the ID conflicts. Thank you for helping me up to this point.

I didn't know I had it set to do that. I'm really new to using the technic platform. I used to run a bukkit server a year ago, and now I'm getting back into this. Really rusty if you can't tell.
Let me look into fixing it real quick.

I've seen some packs on github, such as TPPI. But I don't know if that's just their source to work from for version control between their team or if they actually distribute from there. Interesting if they do.
