  1. Well guess I won't be playing Tekkit again
  2. I don't have a ton of other stuff running, just that if I ever do have anything else open like a web browser that runs significantly slower in fact it's noticeable even when Vanilla MC is running. I have allocated 1GB to the launcher and it's made no difference, running at about 5 FPS.
  3. Java Settings: Version: 1.8.0_25 64-Bit (Default) Memory Allocated: 2GB I have always noticed that everything else my computer does when running any mod pack is laggy, especially web browsing. I have looked at the Mac Utility called Activity Monitor and that has given me some data that may be useful. Tekkit Classic is using on average 25% of the CPU, 760MB of memory and it also says that of the 8GB of physical memory about 6.75GB is being used which seems like a lot to me, is this anything to go on?
  4. After giving up on this I decide to come back and of course still exactly the same as when I made the OP. In answer to Hugs' question the graphics card I have is not the best, it's ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB I'm guessing this is going to be the main source of the problem but if so that doesn't explain why I used to be able to run Tekkit and indeed single player Technic which had even more mods at a reasonable FPS.
  5. i guess everyone's clueless then.
  6. I would imagine that his has been posted before but given that it's possible my situation is somehow a bit different I've decided to start a thread for it. Firstly I will say that when this was just simply Tekkit I never had any problems running it on my computer which is the first thing I'm finding confusing. The problem I am having is that when I try to play Tekkit Classic I experience very low (5/6) fps. This makes the game pretty much unplayable and occurs even on a completely brand new world. I am using practically the minimal settings in terms of render distance, textures etc and still I cannot get it to run smoothly. I have changed the allocation of RAM a few times and in my latest attempt I allocated 6GB which is probably more than would be recommended for my computer anyway but in this test i noticed something which I found strange. After loading a brand new world and going into F3 overlay to check the fps I also noticed the memory on the right hand side of the screen which showed some confusing data. What I saw was: Used Memory: 1% (80mb) of 6127MB Allocated Memory: 2% (127MB) Does anyone understand why it is using so little memory, or is that supposed to be the case and it should still run smoothly? Any help would be much appreciated. (I am aware that I spelt issue wrong in the title of this topic)
