Me and my friends have set up a 'War' server using a custom modpack. I have Java 8, but I've been using the legacyjavafixer-1.0, which was given to me by a user named Boschen. It's been working for me so far, but since the server owner updated the server, I haven't been able to connect. I have gotten the prompt to update, and I have updated. I've reset the modpack several times.
