  1. Possibly except they both reacted the same with I did Open With Java SE Binary Platform (located in the JRE7 folder) So *shrugs and continues to do it the long way that works*
  2. Did that it flashes the cmd black window with something like Error: Could not find or load (file destination). The second line is different probably because you're using the downloaded jar I used the one the .exe puts in the folder.
  3. Ok so new users (like myself) have had a lot of trouble with running Technic Launcher and are met with nothing but sarcastic remarks by others who have been here a while and think we're all just idiots (not all the time thank you ). So here's where I'm at. Platform: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Java: JRE 7u4 64 bit (For Windows) Antivirus: McAfee Antivirus Plus (Completely uninstalled and tried all the solutions I'll list below and caused no change) Problem: Ran the .exe and get a quick flash of Checking Launcher Version. Ran the .jar that's put in the appdata folder by the Technic Launcher.exe using Java SE Binary Platform (The java one not javaw or javaws) and get a barely moment flash of a command prompt (the black window) that after many retries I manage to make out something like "Error: Could not find or load 'insert file location to technic-launcher.jar' ". Went back to the site and downloaded the jar download and tried again with same result as when I ran the jar from the .exe (no surprise). Then trying what a moderator said to find the exact error message I went to start, typed in cmd (in the search), launcher it, typed in "cd %appdata%\.techniclauncher" (press enter) "java -jar technic-launcher.jar" and get it to launch just fine with this message in the prompt May 05, 2012 9:02:53 PM org.spoutcraft.launcher.Util log WARNING: Rebooting with [java, -Xmx1024m, -jar, "C:/Users/Myself/AppData/ Roaming/.techniclauncher/technic-launcher.jar"] That's the exact message after I entered in the commands and it launches the Technic Launcher just fine though it's annoying to do over and over. While I understand this is a solution I'd like for the launcher to be fixed so I can just run the .exe Thank you for all the hard work that has gone into Technic and it's associated Mods and Modpacks. I love it and would just like this little issue cleared up quickly if possible.
  4. Don't bother with them this problem is popping up a lot with new users (like myself) and nothing seems to help. I've kept an eye out for a solution for it but everyone who has it seems to be like "whatever" and simply keeps stating the same fixes such as get Java 7, disable firewalls and antivirus and try again, etc. I have the same problem with running the exe and jar. Right now I got it working when a moderator said to "hit start, type cmd in the search, run it, type in 'cd %appdata%\.techniclauncher'(minus the apostrophies of course), press Enter, type in 'java -jar technic-launcher.jar' (minus the ' again). For me it launches it fine though it's an annoying process to go through and was originally meant as a way to see the error message that shows when I try to open the .jar file with JRE 7 / Java SE Binary Platform (Basically Java 7) and get just an cmd window flash.
  5. I don't know wtf is going on but thank you. I did what you said with the cmd and it opened just fine through the cmd. The same things are still happening through the normal means but cmd opens it so I'm good. Thank you
  6. Definitely not the java installation program is the java and as for computer specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit McAfee Antivirus Plus (Had no issues but seeing it was in the list of AV that cause problems I will uninstall and come back to this) JRE 7 64 bit Minecraft 1.2.5 (of course) And judging by how it's looking it does seem like new users are having the problems with this and old users aren't having and issues so. . . I can only say it might be nice to know where to find previous versions and try downloading one and updating it to the current version to see if that works.
  7. I'm having the same issue. When I start the .exe file it flashes the updating launcher icon then disappears and nothing happens. I've tried both versions of the .jar (the download and the one in the file for the .exe file) using JRE 7 (which I found using open with and browse typing in JRE for the search and using the one in the bin folder of JRE that wasn't javaws or javaw just java) and always get a command prompt flashing for less than a second but after many retries I made out it saying some like Cannot find or load (file destination for the .jar). Javaw doesn't cause anything to happen and javaws just says Unable to Launch the Application.
