  1. I just installed seven zip because it was free really. Though on my older computer I still use winrar (and I haven't gotten in trouble yet muahahah >.>)
  2. Unfortunately 7zip did not come on this computer but instead I had to install it myself. Don't know if that info helps out any but perhaps by performing the act of installing it, it maybe changed something or other. As far as java, I reinstalled Java 6 (64 bit) on my computer and also Java 7 (64 bit) update 4. As far as exact version of Java I am using Java runtime (JRE 7u4) Unfortunately though, I could not use the links posted on the sidebar of the home page because it is either not running java scripts or my cookies are enabled and (getting used to everything new on here from xp to windows 7) I'm having trouble allowing cookies. Concering the batch files. Should I refer to the stickied thread at the top? If that is the case, then where should I put the information for the .bat file (in what folder?) I have tried to do that, and it has created a new folder with similiar properties of where I locate the techniclauncher but above that, I do not know what to do after that step. Edit: Alright, I'm fine now, I was able to get it to work thanks to your suggestion. To clarify what I did, I made sure that the program (the .jar file) was connected to java and not to an archive (as you said). Before that I created the batch file based on what the sticky thread said and put that within the .techniclauncher folder within the appdata (roaming and whatnot) area. thanks again for your help, I hope I wasn't too annoying with my request as my problem was very similar to many other people's problems. I hope, that if something wrong happens again, that whoever works with me will be a courteous as you will.
  3. So, in the last few days I've gotten a new laptop and figured I would use the technic launcher. The problem is that the technic launcher will not work. It's the common "comes up with a loading bar error and then just disappears" routine only I've done a lot of research and tried a lot of suggestions and unfortunately, to no avail. Currently, I'm using java 7 update 3 64 bit. My laptop (yes it is a laptop, don't know if that should fit into the equation or not) is a 64 bit and therefore I have java 64. My current anti-virus is Avast, my anti-malware is spybot (after changing it from ad aware) and other than that the settings are pretty much default settings. I have tried using both the .exe and the .jar and every time i try using the .jar it always prompts me to install 7zip (which I previously had installed a couple of days ago). I figure, if nothing else, this is the most suspicious issue of why I can't make the tecniclauncher work. the problem is i don't know what is causing this or why it is causing it. For now, i'm giving up on working with this, but not before posting something on the forums. So far the suggestions I've tried are: Reinstalling the techniclauncher download Uninstalling java 7 update 4 and reinstalling it with update 3 (sixty four bit, of course) doing some work with batch files but, this is another path i may look into further in case the suggestions that are presented to me don't work. And finally attempting to open the .jar file (which, once again it prompts me to install 7zip which I'm still completely baffled about) p.s: sorry for my lack of knowledge on the more techincal side of this issue. I'm somewhat out of my league here but not enough to I'm a total computer illiterate. I'm also somewhat worried about screwing up my new laptop so I've been rather cautious with the whole ordeal.
