What is the purpose of a macerator?: Grinding ores into dusts to double ore gain. Recommendations(if you been invited): Nope, I just was looking for a good tekkit server. Others things i should know: Might get some friends to join with me, beyond that, nope.

I found the error. In the drop down list on the launcher, what you probably have selected is Technic. Scroll down and select Tekkit instead. It worked for me.

So obviously this is independent of platform since I am running Windows 7. Don't know how helpful that could be.

Edit: Reinstalled Tekkit. Still nothing.

I installed Tekkit and have the server running, but when I attempt to join it tells me I need to have Minecraft Forge. I find this strange because I do have it installed. Help?
