when loading it just says download failed

I'm having the same issue, tries to download updates but fails partway through then won't launch. I have a 100/25Mb connection, and everything it actually downloads is fast, just stops in the middle and doesn't attempt to retry Anyone know how to manually update technic/tekkit without the launcher?
