  1. Oh sure I'll help you. Let me just look into my crystal ball to see what the problem is. Ahh, that feels good. I used to be a tech support agent and one of my biggest pet peeves was people who just say "it dunt werk!"

  2. Is today ineligible day? I've now seen a couple of posts which have me completely baffled.

I'm guessing he's posted something and it's been deleted. Is that right?

Ineligible means 'officially unable to be considered for a position.' I believe you meant to say illegible, which means 'not clear enough to be read.'

In other news, i sow a huje mawth last nite and it was al liek rawr and i wuz all liek noep and i hit it wit a fly sweater.

  3. Alblaka already posted that there was no need to obtain specific permission for his mod but to give them due credit. RichardG is obviously going around him. And wow, the bile those people spew about tekkit is unreal, but it is common to hate what you don't understand.

Well that makes sense, given what I've seen of RichardG in dw20's videos. What an ass-hat.

  4. It would be really nice if the Minecraft modding community did not make me want to physically vomit quite so often. Why do so many smart, intelligent, capable, and creative people have to be such raging and hypocritical asshats with control issues over their unauthorized and unsupported modifications to a closed-source application?

I don't care how orderly or reasonable his demands are: Presented in such a cold and strict manner with a fucking popup in the game? Acting like the damn hand of a god reaching down to steer our fucking gaming lives. Minecraft modders are literally the most venomous and controlling of any I have EVER FUCKING SEEN.

Well they have the almighty adf.ly dollar waiting for them! Any other game would be cracking down on that so hard. Try to put a mod for Skyrim through adf.ly and see what happens, and that game you're allowed to distribute mods!

  5. Why do you think nothing is going to update until the Mod API? There's a good chance that will never come out. People are updating their mods for new versions of forge, and Tekkit will update when there is a good base of updated mods.

  6. Considering MultiMC doesn't even alter Minecraft at all, you've obviously done something wrong.

Also, the "don't always force update" vanilla launcher has existed since Beta 1.3, have people REALLY still been using the old one?

I think it still forces if it thinks something is corrupt, which could have been my problem with the auto-update. I was using an older launcher, but not THAT old.

As for MultiMC, I dunno what the problem was, but it works fine with the normal launcher so I haven't picked at it.

edit: decided to give it another go and its working better now. No idea what its problem was before o.O

  7. Grab a new version of the exe from minecraft.net.

Also, if you're running your own mod installs, you should probably be using a custom (better?) launcher/organizer like MultiMC. A lot easier to manage things, and it will by default, not update minecraft unless you tell it to.

I tried porting over to multiMC but for some reason it gave me much worse fps than I get with the default minecraft directory...

  8. Slightly off topic, but how can I force my 1.3.2 install to not update when 1.4 comes out? I've already got a bunch of mods installed so I don't want to update until one of the modpacks are out...

  9. Emphasis mine.

Where the hell have you been? There are a ton of mods not updated for 1.3 yet. Too name just a few, there's Thaumcraft, Equivalent Exchange, and Red Power. Not a single one of those mods, as well as dozens of others, has updated to 1.3 yet.

Indeed, that's what we're waiting for :D From what I've gathered redpower should be out very soon. And at that point, I feel the pros of 1.3 outweigh the cons.

  10. Nothing wrong with 1.2.5. It's a good solid build and I don't know why anyone is in such a crotch grabbing paniced hurry to update every time a new minecraft version drops. I have found that for a long time now, most of the new updates have barely been worth a new version number. I don't blame some modders for ignoring half of them. There are some nice little new things added sure and over time there have been some solid changes like the height increase and jungle biomes, but nothing that outweighs all the content added by the mods in the pack.

Main thing I love about Vanilla 1.3: Being able to recover from drowning. Oh god, it's so small, but so big... Also the CPU usage on a dual core seems a lot better in 1.3 than in 1.2.5, so there's that. 1.4 though, that one I don't care about much. It's mostly improvements for adventure maps from what I've seen, and some minor aesthetic stuff.

Anyway, mods are keeping up with the times and all new versions are on 1.3, and there's some really good additions such as being able to use Buildcraft 3 in SMP... That mod is so much better when you have the version 3 additions (and logistics pipes!)

  11. I said that already, didn't I? I thought that by saying "First, Minecraft updates." it was implied that the update fucked things up?

I think he means Minecraft updates again in between the other steps. Like a "1.4.2" or something. Which slows things down even further.

Anyway, OP, what modpack are you currently using?
