We here at Technic Forums are pretty bad, but in a kind of fun way. MCF is just kinda stupid and whiny, not everyone but most the players seem to be. From the hearsay here it sounds like a few of the more knowledgeable members, the modders, are drama queens.
I have brake down of the MC community:
MCF = Drama Queens~ (I SUE YOU, PikachuLover25!)
Yogscast Forums = Goons? (I haven't been on SA since they mentioned my green balls so I don't know how today's goons are.) and yognaughts (Yogscast quote here).
Technic Forums = Asshats!!! (You know you are.
)MPGH/OLGH MC subforums = Griefers D8 ($5 for my greifing client with free porn.)
The current SomethingAwful composition has gotten to the point in the past year or two where GBS makes slightly more sense than D&D but is still a dumb place.
You can tell of its quality by looking at grover's house.

To fix these issues I thinka few things should be done to the main website; I realize it's Goon Run but seriously, the download page is shoddy as hell.
The font is all the same size, SUPER BIG and disorganized. I think we'd get a lot fewer dumb questions if it was trimmed down a bit, using a normal font size with tables and lists.

Why don't you guys use bittorrent protocols for the mods the Launcher downloads? Have a few torrents users can download to be dedicated seeds and whatnot.
Also putting the Servers up on a torrent is a no-brainer, seeing as those are direct downloads.
The Launcher is only 52 KB so no worries there.
Also to everybody discussing adfly as a solution, lol.

One thing on your infinite water sources, I read that the pump should be in a corner of the 3x3 pool, not the center, or there is a chance of the pumps water consumption to pull water in a manner that would cause the pool to dry up. It is just something I recall reading so I do not know how true it is.
Buildcraft pumps, when placed, scan the water in the chunk/area. After that it randomly picks a spot to pull water from, so in a 3x3 pool it doesn't matter, each of the 9 blocks has an equal chance to be pumped.

I tried out Better than Wolves because I really liked the windmill/gear/anchor concepts.
Also I think the HELEN KELLER meme is inviting more trolls than warding off idiots.

Do your clients have the extra-far chunk loading options enabled? Unless the server automatically limits how many chunks can be loaded per client.

If you made yourself an OP for your server you will be able to cheat even with the .cfg set to disalow cheats, i believe.
Tekkit server and tekkit single player are two different things.
For the OP, when your world loads up, go into your inventory and on the bottom right you can click options and change cheat mode into recipe mode and disable extra cheats. I believe this should fix your issue, if not, go into your %appdata\roaming\.techniclauncher\tekkit\ folder and check the NEI config options.

Basically just BuildCraft and Forestry machines. Technic does include a Power Converters mod to switch from MJ to EU and back.
