  1. No, I'm counting real life hours. 1650 meters = about 1 mile, so "thousands or blocks" in an hour means like... a few miles per hour.

I wasn't guessing. I calculated it to be almost exactly 20 miles per hour for carts at max speed.

Oh, you actually calculated it? And still, a metal helmet on a minetrack hitting you would be pretty painful. And I calculated it being in the nether. Since distances are 8x shorter in the nether, it would be moving at 160 MPH there. And this is getting seriously off-topic. This guy wanted a way to turn EU into EMC by using it to power a quarry or something, how'd it get into talking about physics? Also, if minecraft was more realistic, if you had iron armor, water would rust it. Liquids would leak through open doors. You'd die because of thin air if you went too high up. Also, zombies would just kill you in one hit because they'd infect you.

  2. 1) Whoever said iron blocks are solid?

    2) Minecarts go about 20 miles per hour maximum (non-HS rails), or about 40ish I think on high speed rails, not "hundreds of miles per hour"

Actually, it depends. If you're counting by IRL hours, it could go thousands of blocks in an hour. If you're just counting ingame hours, yeah, nowhere near that. Well, I guess you could also use iron helmet for an example. But still. Having a helmet hurled at you at anything over 10 MPH would be PRETTY PAINFUL.
  3. You are right I guess with boosters, but did you forget these are the TEKKIT forums? I was thinking of using HS rails and HS boosters. Using those, I think getting hit by a minecart moving at a hundred miles per hour could do some serious damage to a person. Plus, it is possible to determine the approximate weight of a minecart, because it is 5 iron ingots. 9 iron ingots makes a cubic meter, so I'd guess it would weigh about 5/9ths as much as an iron block, and cubic meters of iron are PRETTY DARN HEAVY.

  4. I don't think you understand. If physics are irrelevant, then why was he complaining about linear motion being translated into electricity...? That is basically the same thing as saying "it's physically impossible!" To which the only reasonable response is one that likewise involves physics, since that's what he asked for.

Secondly, why shouldn't physics be involved in minecraft? Just because a lot of things are unrealistic doesnt mean it makes no sesne to discuss how they could be, or how they might be. Nobody has actually given any real argument for this... Not only is it amusing, but many of the mods could benefit from being a little bit more realistic, in situations where it doesn't obviously conflict with gameplay value.

    Hmm, let's see-

If minecraft had physics, hopping off a hundred block cliff into water would squish you,

If minecraft had physics, if you wore heavy DM/RM/Nano/Diamond/Quantum/Iron/Gold armour, it would weigh you down and make you move slowly.

If minecraft had physics, a track with constant booster rails every 1-5 blocks would speed up a cart until it reached its terminal velocity, and anything it hit would basically die instantly.

    Need more examples?

  5. All of you should stop complaining about exploits in EE. EE IS one huge exploit. It's up to you/the server owner whether to use it or not. IMO, allowing UU-Matter from Solar Energy but not allowing dark rooms/blaze rod macerators, yet allowing Collectors is just plain retarded.

I have no clue how people get those massive amounts of HV arrays. I mean, maybe super-factories could do it, but I personally just use quarries and dig for more stuff.

  6. Oh yeah the void ring... Okay so mob spawners and vanilla crop farms could be excepted, then, I guess. Neither of those is very lucrative or fun to set up though, and I still don't see it making much of a difference on a server if you allow those two specific methods versus nothing.

The chickens and eggs thing becomes a borderline case, though, when used with void rings.

Also, a small platform in the middle of nowhere in the End + pedestal with ring of ignition + alchemical chest with void ring would be very lucrative...

Didn't this thread start out with someone who wanted to know how to set up a quarry or something to turn EU into EMC? If he wants that, then Energy-Source to Energy-Link to quarry and then diamondpipes filter out the stuff that needs to be processed

  7. Didn't I already say that?

Yes you did. Yes you did. Obsidian pipes can make this setup better if you don't want to spend DM on a black hole band, but otherwise you don't really need anything but EE. Similar auto-farms can be made using cactus or melon instead. I'm pretty sure it would even be possible to have an auto mushroom farm, but I think you'd need RP2 for that. Timer would have to be atleast 10 minutes or so, vanilla timers COULD do it but it would take a massive ton of them.

  8. That still isn't automated, requiring human input, and still has nothing to do with anything.

    -snip-

Nope. Regular vanilla timers can do it as well, and blackhole band and gem of eternal density(So chest doesn't overflow til is full of RM) Pistons can harvest sugarcane. An RP2 timer setup could make it easier, but it's POSSIBLE to do it in vanilla.

  9. Obsidian pipes are not EE or vanilla items, I am sorry to say. Just like everything else, this requires at least two mods that were not written with each other in mind.

As for IC and BC, the fact that somebody went off and coded energy links, etc. as a third party does not mean that the mods were "meant to be together." No more than somebody writing a fanfiction romance between Spiderman and Arwen from LOTR means that Stan Lee and Tolkien had each other in mind when they were writing their respective stories...

    .

I guess you're right, BC and IC2 weren't DESIGNED to be used together, but it's mostly not that bad. I don't use water mills anyway. Just strainers. And for obsidian pipes? You don't HAVE to use them. You could go AFK at the exit and just camp there for a few hours until you have a full inventory. Or just use an alchemical chest with gem of eternal density and black hole band. See? A non-collector EMC farm that only needs EE.

  10. Um hell yeah I consider that an exploit, if any of the others are.

Automated water mills are one of the stupidest things in tekkit. If you look on the IC2 official wiki, it clearly says "manned" and "unmanned" operational output. Making it pretty obvious that it was intended to provide 2 EU/tick only if somebody is standing there feeding buckets into it.

Which they would have to do, if not for the redpower mod being installed alongside IC2.

By automating it with redpower, you are making a completely nonsensical machine (lifts water using less energy than the water provides by falling???), that exploits an unintentional relationship between mods, and distorts what used to be a realistic machine (humans lifting buckets makes the energy come from the food you eat in game, which makes sense)

It is no more realistic and no less "cheaty" than taking advantage of the blaze rod recipes.

Also I don't really care if it's "generally accepted" to not be an exploit or not, and neither should you. What matters is if there is actually a good argument for why it is and something else isn't, and I don't see one here.

Water mills can also get water buckets from BC if set up correctly. And BC and IC2 did have some merging mods added to tekkit, so they are meant to be together. Although, if you're going to use BC, water strainers are better. If you just want mass-EMC anyway, there is a way to mass-gen EMC with vanilla items and EE alone, although RP2 red alloy wire/timers make it much faster, and a BC obsidian pipe is needed to make it full auto. How? Pistons on a timer harvesting sugarcane, pushing it into water, dropping it into obsidian pipe.

  11. Much funnier too. :D

Sorry for the confusion, I understood "glitchy" as in it breaks easily/causes lag etc. If you're talking about how it's an exploit, well all EMC-generators are.

    Not ALL.

Collectors aren't, auto cobble gens aren't(But if you're using obsidian pipes and BC pipes, NEVER use one of those. Unless you use pneumatics, a leak can crash a server), auto snow gens aren't. I guess it's just EE was never optimized to work with the rest of tekkit. BC and IC2 work perfectly together.

  12. It's banned on most servers, but it's only because it is a powerful replacement to a collector. It isn't glitchy, and can't spill since it uses RP tubes most of the time.
It IS a glitch. EE was never optimized to work with IC2, and so you get all of these glitchy mass EMC-Gens. There are other slower ones too. One sand is 1 EMC, one sand in a compressor is sandstone which is 4. On and on and on. One macerated dust in an RM furnace is 2 ingots. It IS a glitch, and it was never meant to be in Tekkit, so I just don't use it. Plus, it's overpowered. A single mk1 collector takes a diamond block, and 6 glowstone. This just needs a blaze rod, 2 condensers, and a possibly rotary macerator.
  13. The fastest way to get EMC (In my eyes) is to macerate Blaze rods, 2 Blaze powder = 1 Blaze rod. Macerating 1 blaze rod = 5 blaze powder so you have 3 blaze powder profit wich is around 2100 EMC.

I got 3 Maceraters, 12 overclockers in them and they make me about 1 redmatter per 30-40 seconds.

Yeah, but it's too glitchy and banned on most servers. It's fast, but it's COMPLETELY non-legit. And then if it goes too fast some might spill, and then you have a laggy diamond gen.
  14. Myst craft isn't that bad, and if owners have problems then they just need to ban the books it'd not hard to ban things.

Isn't hard to bad things, but would make cleint harder to download, yadda yadda yadda.... Besides, might not be multiplayer compatible. Or not Bukkit anyway. The Multiworlds thing in bukkit handles The End, the Nether, and the Overworld. Nothing else.

  15. Wishful thinking on the first, possible on the second. There's a...history between the Forestry mod author and the Technic team, and it's unfriendly. I can see Mo' Creatures going in, though, once it's more stable. Matter of fact, it's not that terribly hard to add, and the item ID conflicts are ignorable as long as no one wants fishbowls.

Fishbowls could have their ID changed, and then we could have that WITH fishybowls!

  16. Crafting Bench III probably caused some issues preventing smooth gameplay. And putting MystCraft into Tekkit would be plain stupid. Dozens of new worlds being created by players at the same time? Server owners wouldn't be too happy about it. And quite frankly Tekkit is just fine without Forestry, it was a nice addition but I hardly ever used it.
Agreed. Servers are hard pressed with 3 dimensions. 40 dimensions? You'd be getting 2 TPS for the server, and everyone would complain about lag.
