Got rid of all the other antivirus programs and installed MSE now and i think it works. only after adding exceptions though. Still nto showing the texture pack images but it is connecting now. Shame about it colliding with certain anti-virus programs though

Gone though both directories and found only one java folder with jre7 even after removing lal the update versions... think there is a gremlin in the works somewhere for me. When I did get rid of AVG... well something got into the system and messed up the drivers for my wireless card and I had to boot in safemode. Found out there was something wrong with Avast! when i tried re-enabling the service though admin tools. So put AVG back on and i'm just going to have to wait it out till the launcher stops clashing with AVG or I get a man out to try and solve the avast issue.

Ok so here is a quick update. Uninstalled all Java versions, god rid of afew programs on my hard drive. Nuked both minecraft and technic launcher folders, removed them from the recycle bin. So its essentially a virgin system. Disk defrag. Reboot. Re-downloaded the newest version of java (7 update 5) Re-downloaded minecraft and ran it without a hitch Re-downlaoded the technic launcher..... aaannnnddddd a wild "Can't find java directory" error message appears. So i went to the .techniclauncher folder and tried opening the launcher but it didn't start. so i right clicked opened with another program and there were 2 java binaries..... so i chose the other and my god IT LAUNCHED... Now your all expecting this to be a tale of happily ever after... Nope its gone back to the original update failed error, must be a connectivity problem, but with what I do not know

Yep after I wrote this i temporerily disabled AVG and re-downloaded the launcher and tried it again. However, to no avail. The only firewalls in windows own and I disabled that when I went for the retry.

Same problem here, but its not a java problem as I can run normal minecraft easy and the launcher is connecting to the internet unlike in past bugs with java. I run Version 7 update 5 and technic has worked a dream until this recent update which must have come out last night?

Brunswick i'm not being funny I already did the leg work while no one was online, and now I have hit a dead end as the batch file won't run (on the java fix). This is why i'm trying to find another answer. Although it would appear that your being hardly helpful and treating me like a fucking moron. Jee thanks for the help

Ok then can you offer a solution to why I am getting these 2 persistent error messages from the launcher: " Oh Noes! Our Tumblr Feed is Down!" and when trying to connect the account: after it tries to connect to www.minecraft.net: "Update Failed!" I have been down avast and added it to the trusted processes list but I think its some thing at this end. I had the launcher before and it has never really worked (With the banners not being displayed) however I had to uninstall the launcher after I loaded the yogcast technic texture pack and it was white screening in technic ssp (after the mojang screen)

I'm running avast if it makes any difference but at the end of the day pirated minecraft or not if a launcher doesn't work I say let them still have the backup of an installer until this launcher is on release and not in beta

Exactly my problem. I don't know why we are using a technic launcher its horribly buggy.
