  1. Just wanted to hear some thoughts on my new gaming build:

    CPU--Intel i7 3770 (not going to OC £20 saving over the K)

    Mobo--Asus P8Z77 V-Pro

    RAM--Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10 Vengenace 16GB 1600Mhz

    PSU--Seasonic SS-650RM 650W Modular

    GPU--Palit GeForce GTX 680 Jetstream (2GB GDDR5)

HDD--Seagate ST31000524AS 3.5 inch Barracuda 1TB GB 7200rpm SATA Drive with 32MB Buffer Case--NZXT Phantom full tower (probably Black if your interested)

    OS--Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

    Optical Drive--Samsung SH-222BB

    Peripherals:

    Logitech G510 Keyboard

    NZXT Avatar S Mouse

Samsung S19A100N 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor

Ill be doing a fair amount of rendering and video editing and want a future proof gaming build hence the overkill parts

I know this is about the 4th thread but this is by far the most revised and the best (I think) and I cant post in the rest without double postng

  2. Ignorance may be bliss, but it's pretty gross for the rest of us.

The more people who understand what places are feeding us, the more they'll shift to places offering good quality stuff. Markets shift, profits go down for crap like pink slime, population starts feeling better generally because they're not eating crap that's illegal to feed to animals...

well with the economy in its current state............

  3. Well there you go. Fast food joints don't sell ice cream, they sell partially frozen dairy-flavored water.

Just like how most candies are "chocolate flavored" because their mash of chemicals don't legally qualify as chocolate. You think those are chocolate covered peanuts, but they're really reformed peanut trailings coated in corn syrup, brown coloring, and artificially flavored bug guts.

Just an FYI, "Natural flavors" is marketing speak for bug guts, rodent waste, and bits of animals generally considered vile and disgusting by the target culture.

most of us wanted to remain ignorant to that while knowing its silently almost true

  4. For multiple monitors running games on max settings with high resolution you'll need two GTX 690s, at least. Depending on the number of monitors.

might go 2 at some point its singe at the moment that was just to see what the best they had to offer I wont be running everything on max high yes like I said unless I can hunt down a cheaper GTX690 £800 cant be worth it when you could get 4 GTX670's for that

EDIT hunted down a GTX680 for a good price about equal with the radeon if not slightly better according to this

    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/508?vs=555

  5. Radeon 7970 isn't very powerful compared to your processor.

Forget about LGA 1366, it's discontinued. Go for LGA 2011 and get a sandy bridge extreme edition CPU, make sure you have two PCI-E slots with plenty of space. GTX 670 should do nicely (although two would be better). Although if you can spend that much on a CPU you may be able to just get a GTX 690 and a motherboard with just one pci-e slot (but you'll need a lot of space).

RAM is going to need to operate at 1600MHz, since we're going for a high profile build.

Just make sure your case is full-sized to accommodate everything.

And skip out on the corsair PSU and opt for a Seasonic X650 or X750 PLUS GOLD.

so i7 sandybridge extreme edition about the same price as the older one thanks for the suggestion

can get an asus sabertooth x79 for just a little more than the x58 the seasonic X750 is probably the biggest price increase about £70 but it is gold certified and im sure I can get it cheaper probably skip out the GTX 690 its about £800 (about £50 more than the CPU) had a look on AMD and it came up with the 7970 when I said mega tasking on multiple monitors playing ultra high res games so id guess thats the best they can offer and GTX 670 is probably about my limit on nvidia will look for faster RAM

    EDIT

    RAM's looking like either a pair of G-Skill 8GBXL Ripjaws X DDR3 or

    Komputerbay 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz DIMM with Black Low Profile Heatspreaders

  6. I'd cut back on the RAM to 16GB, meaning you can also just get Windows 7 Home Premium, (Only Ultimate works with more than 16GB)

and invest in a GTX570. Although you can link two graphics cards together, the 570 alone is affordable and massively more powerful than your current option.

EDIT : Just realised your current motherboard doesn't accept the two 470's anyway.

oh yeah damn forgot I swapped the mobo from the other one forgot about that with the ram too damn thats less than half the price and thanks for the GPU

  7. im looking for a new PC (may have seen the other thread) and can probably spend a fair amount on the parts cobbled together this:

    CPU

    i7-3960X Processor - 3.3GHz

    Mobo

    Asus Sabertooth X79 Socket 2011

    PSU

Corsair CMPSU-750TXV2UK OR Seasonic X750 80 Plus Gold

    GPU

Sapphire 21197-00-40G HD 7970 Graphics Card 3GB, GDDR5 OR Palit GeForce GTX 680 Jetstream Graphics Card 2GB GDDR5

    RAM

    Komputerbay 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz DIMM with Blue Low Profile Heatspreaders OR 2x G-Skill 8GBXL Ripjaws X DDR3 PC12800 1600MHz

    Case

    NZXT Phantom 410 White

OCZ 1TB RevoDrive Hybrid SSD OR Seagate ST31000524AS 3.5 inch 1TB Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

Sony AD-5280S-0B SATA DVD Optical Drive

    Logitech G510 Gaming Keyboard

NZXT Avatar S 1600DPI Laser Gaming Mouse

    Whats your thoughts?

  8. depends on what you want can get a set of logitech s120's for £10 or

    EDIFIER Aurora MP300's for £49.99

    or

Creative Gigaworks T20's for some where between £45 and £51 (probably the best of this lot only thing is the blue LED gets really annoying)

  9. Okay, after consulting with a brony working at IBM-

You would need to do some serious cutting and pasting of bits of motherboard.

Plus, running everything through the port 137 protocol as you would have to would mean that the speed increase across the systems would be negligible.

Think of a quad core processor. It's the same thing, but they are right next to each other. Port 137 protocol wouldn't be able to match the motherboard speeds, even with the highest speed, largest bandwidth piece of cable in the world.

basicly build 1 monster server for the same price

  10. Well looking at this now, I guess we could just shell all of it on a graphics card and PSU. Your performance will go up pretty substantially.

The 430W is great, the 600W is unneeded and so is the 550W modular. But if you can get them for the same price do it.

I took a gander at some higher priced graphics cards and found a beauty on sale.

    Radeon 6950 2GB - $195, $185 after rebate (£121, £115 after rebate)

I'm not sure if the rebates apply to you or anything, but trust me this card is totally worth the price. With 2 GB of VRAM you'll be able to play the 128x sphax with nice frame-rates. This card outperforms the 6870 by a significant amount.

That graphics card you picked out wouldn't be able to handle 64x sphax very well, I think. It's going to take a 6850 or 6770 at least to break 25-30 fps.

just had a look at those the 6950 is expensive over here depending on which it is between 130 and £200 http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=radeon hd 6950&tag=googhydr-21&index=computers&hvadid=14381816396&hvpos=1o1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=45387579194217917&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&ref=pd_sl_236yl6w4dn_e

others are fairly close in price but im sure I can dig up a cheap one

    EDIT

just wanted to ask a few details on the GTS 450 found the 2Gb for cheap and from waht ive heard it should do well had a look at those AND's the £6850 comes out at between £100 and £130 and the DDR3 version of the 6770 comes out at about £100 the GTS is only £66 is it worth it? also this 6570 any good? http://www.ebuyer.com/265343-sapphire-hd-6570-2gb-ddr3-dvi-vga-hdmi-pci-e-graphics-card-11191-02-20g

    EDIT 2

thanks for all the help but it looks like its going to require a new PC and well thats raised my budget

    http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/model/PT.SDEE2.159

dont know if its going to happen but whats the thoughts on the specs?
