I don't know what the problem is sorry, there are probably other threads about this, all i can tell you now is have you tried redownloading the launcher, rebooting your pc or deleting the .techniclauncher folder. That normally works for me. I have 2 antiviruses because one is antivirus the other is firewall and antivirus. Also, i discovered my firewall was on high security, i set it to medium and now the launcher works fine... mostly.

FIXED IT FIXED IT FIXED IT! It was an antivirus or firewall problem. I did turn them off before but for some reason this time it worked. I am guessing i did it wrong. I do have 2 antivirus programs, i went through and completely disabled every firewall program i could see and then went into task manager and cleared there too. In other words i disabling my antivirus and firewall didn't work but i had to entirely reset it. Thanks so much for your help over the past few weeks guys but i can't help feeling after that i have kinda wasted your time (after it being firewall and antivirus after all, I think the program stopping it launching was my firewall zonealarm which i think is kinda an agressive firewall)so i guess i owe you a few hours back (guess you could come and take them off me in like 60 years or whatever XD) . P.S.- just discovered that as soon as firewall was re-enabled, i got 'could not connect to minecraft.net' problem again which was the source of the problem in the first place. Guess i will have to start playing with no firewall then. :P

does restoring to factory settings delete my data? Or just reset hardware and software and stuff. If it helps. My computer is pretty buggy itself, it blue screen 'o' deaths occasionally and it says kdbsync (or kbdsync dunno which) has stopped working. Also i had to disable my wifi port miniadapter as that was causing it to blue screen too. the miniport adapter does not affect my wifi or internet connection, so i'm a bit confused as to what it does. Technic was however still working after this and then stopped. Is that any help to anyone?

yeah i haven't had time to carry to a friends house . And EzioA, i have the most on offer here at the moment from any isp, No fibre optics are available either. The exchange receives 24mb/s, that is then split many times, there is then a long inefficient of about 3 miles to my tiny unwanted, rejected, throwback of a village that i call my home. That is how i get my cruddy speed. There is a slight possibility that we may be able to swap cables to the exchange in another village near here with 8mb/s. Also, i understood nothing. Are you sure this will work? Have you tried it? I don't really want to reinstall my OS either, too much hassle, as i have nothing to back ny pc up onto and it will take hours, or at least until i know that's the only solution. I know I am not really helping my self though. Can anyone explain to me why my computer is refusing to start the program? I know it is because of mirrors but what is causing it?

No, steam is fine, if it is affected its due to our ridiculous download speed. The p2p sharing shouldn't matter as technic has worked for ages before but suddenly stopped. P.S.- due to the faulty cable, my download speed is between 0.1-0.2mb/s, its normally just under 1 mb/s.

hahahaha funny, you used about every single political term there is. i'm not using an old launcher as far as i know. no java updates work, my error report talks about mirrors not getting where they need or something, as i said my internet cable is damaged we discovered, the dudes are fixing it soon so i will try again when it's fixed. I still only have about 0.5mb/s of broadband though anyway. :P

we recently discovered there is a fault on my internet line, this means really slow for everything until the dudes come to fix it, maybe why my error report talked about the mirrors being all wrong or something and why it can't connect, the latest version of java 6 says what my last message says so i'm kinda screwed. please help before i suffocate in my own misery...

Thanks again, new problem, i'm trying all the solutions, the java 6 thing first but it says this: jre-6u34-windows-x64.exe is not a valid win32 application. It says on the oracle website that this means i am trying to install a 64 bit item onto a 32 bit pc, this is not true, i am installing the correct version on the correct machine (installing 64 bit onto a 64 bit pc) so i have no idea what it's talking about! please help...again! p.s.- i swear computers hate me :(

Sigh. Can people really not accept an apology? I know it did not excuse my rule breaking, i did in fact apologise for it and acknowledge my mistake. Please reread my last post, it says I do not want to be hated on for my post, I tried very hard to write a formal apology and to clear my name, please, I know you laugh and make fun of rule breakers, I have a sense of humour and found that amusing, but I apologised for my tiny barely notable mistake and all it did was blow up in my face, what kind of people laugh at minute errors that have been accounted for and with an apology which has been put in place in hope to make amends for it. I came here for support and got hatemail and I know you don't care what I want, however all I ask is that we try and keep this a pleasant atmosphere for everyone. I'm just going to reply to all of these posts at once. I tried the .jar yes, I also ran an anti virus check to check for malware or other issues, i found none, I do only have less than a mb/s of broadband and even less at the moment as recently it went completely down the drain, this could be why it cannot contact the servers. To my knowledge i have no port blockers on my pc or router. My router even has a gaming mode. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate that. Sadly, now to the negative replies, I know what bumping is, i read the rules. I was not being unpleasant i was, if anything, correcting a misunderstanding of my post, I understand the warning i got, "a low effort post", this is completely different to bumping and if my post was taken as negative i am sorry, i was simply attempting to defend my corner and keep the peace on my post. If it was bumping, i misunderstood what bumping was, i have noticed bumping a lot worse than this, please could you deal with them rather than me who may have accidentally bumped once. Finally, please, however you feel i may have treated other people, whether true or untrue, if you are going to treat me like this i don't want your help anyway.
