  1. I didn't play tekkit lite, we had already advanced into other mods by the point tekkit lite came out and kept our old stuff as well (well most of it.) This version of tekkit is just... lacking anything interesting to do. In TC there were the high end armors to strive for, force fields, reactors, frames, etc... there's just nothing here. nothing. not even lame bee keeping. I already hit max and I'm like "uhm... yah so, bored." It lacks options and features, it's to much of a rail ride. It's not a huge deal if a pack isn't for you-- move on and we shall. I was just disappointed after tekkit classic being so revolutionary and so well put together.
  2. My biggest problem with the current tekkit is its basically a tech rail ride. There's one line beginning to end where the old tekkit classic was more about choice and variety, 30 ways to do anything. So far galacticraft adds next to nothing of interest. :/ Moon was pretty boring after the "heh cheese" effect.
  3. I'll have to poke it in Tekkit, most of my experience with it has it costing upwards of eyes of ender and such which aren't exactly early game.
  4. In the launcher click the little gear in the top right corner, make sure you select "Increase permgen size" and increase the memory to at least 2g.
  5. Are you running the tekkit launcher and appropriate client and not vanilla minecraft (can't think why it would let you connect...) the other alternative i can think of is that maybe you don't have continued wright permissions to the location you installed it in...
  6. I've tried a few different charge power solutions, if you're using the tools in the mod then they're perfectly fine. If you're trying to say power a buildcraft machine or ic2 machine with them they're completely junk. The only good arguments I can use for factorization is barrels and routers, extremely innovative, useful and barrels at least are early enough game that they are really the only early game item available that is adequate to store the cobble/dirt coming from a quarry that you plan on filling back in using a filler. I love routers. The power is crap though and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Also worth noting barrels can be moved with a gravity gun and some chest moving mods.
  7. Buildcraft conductive pipes explode if they receive to much power (and it doesn't take more than a sterling to do it if there is no dump on the far end). Buildcraft pipes (kinda) explode if they get to many items (it's semi bugged last i tested it, explosion graphic, sound (both repeating endlessly), but pipe didn't actually explode... lag was worse than a quarry dump though.)
  8. Honestly, early buildcraft power makes most people miss ic2/rp/EVERYTHING across the board, yay the most miserable babysitting power scheme ever made with exploding machines and pipes. Mid/late game TE, redstone conduits, and energy cells make it useable power wise, but that doesn't help early on. Honestly, this version of tekkit is a bit of a let down-- but not one i can really fault the tekkit team with entirely. There is no stable version of IC2, there is no RP2, no railcraft/xycraft (tanks), the additions of AE, MFR, and TE are big assets but the game still feels light compared to the classic tekkit which was just mind numbingly insane and versatile. Tekkit to me always felt like the king of fun mods because of its versatility... and it just feel like we're being pigeonholed into doing it JUST THIS ONE WAY for every specific task. I think a lot of people are missing the versatility of tekkit classic when it comes right down to it. Hell, just think back to how many methods of mining there were in tekkit classic... people miss having a mod that lets them play their way while letting their friends play a different way without restriction and still being able to play together... I played tekkit classic longer than any other mod or even vanilla minecraft itself. It was really an amazing piece of work. As far as ic2 goes... people miss it because it was comprehensive. It could stand alone without other mods and be complete. Buildcraft even after all this time STILL doesn't feel that way. The power feels half ass at best without RECs (conduit and cells). *shrug* All said and done though, I think people are missing the versatility.
  9. ... or at least described what he was doing including connectivity between items.
  10. I would agree that IC2 is hurting at this point for a real release... BC has kicked around as long as IC and it's really no more interesting at this point but you gotta base things on something. RP2 is the real sad case, it is a spectacular mod and it does item transport right (I would argue liquiducts/redpower conduits do liquid/bc energy right)... my biggest concern with the current tekkit release is... it's just boring. Galacticraft adds little... and we've been using ME and factorization on our servers for quite a while. Tekkit in its current form feels like a cut down version of ftb with less to do. Maybe i'm just fried on minecraft-techmods at this point or something. Tekkit classic really was the epitome of perfect tech modpacks. Haven't played any that played as well prior or since. Hohum.
  11. The bigger issue I've had is that I can't find a good way to disable creature spawning in limbo... or for that matter other dimensions.
  12. I can confirm this on both JRE6 (6.0_35-b10) and JRE7 on Windows 7 Ultimate. I was using most recent JRE7 and was crashing so did a full uninstall re-install of 6 and it is still occurring, full re-install of 7 and is still occurring.
