Good to hear. There is apparently a problem with ZoneAlarm silently blocking it. Whitelisting the IP as Xellas suggested DID work. Hopefully this helps other people along the way.

Thank you very much, sir and/or madam. Perhaps this solution should be added to this 'Common problems and solutions' list. I know there is information about the antivirus blocking it on the thread, but nothing about firewalls. The only time you see anything about firewalls is by going through other threads posted by fellow people having trouble. Thank you again, Xellas. Jorcer I also appreciate your time.

I've read it multiple times now, uninstalled java; including removing old registry keys, installed the appropriate versions. I've attempted launching with the Linux/Jar launcher as I've seen you suggest in other threads. I only just started having problems after the most recent java updates. At this point, just forget I requested assistance.

I'm not understanding what the issue is in the first place. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times, also switched anti-virus programs.
