Futher info. If i install 32bit java launcher works fine. If I install 64 bit I get the above error msg. IF I use a Win7 64 bit or Vista 64bit o/s I need to use the 64bit java for it to work, otherwise the game will crash after about 10mins. On Win8 64bit, it crashes after about 10 seconds, using 64bit java 7.10. Tried using old versions without success. I know theres Windows 8 issues, would like some verfication if possible. So I can work out a solution. Is it just Window 8 ? Or is there another issue? Also is there a 64bit version of launcher or another way of launching tekkit without using the launcher? Launcher will work if I use Java 32 bit. On Windows 8 64bit oem. Game will crash within 10mins. IF i do this, so it's not a fix. Is it possible to get launcher to use java 32 and game to use java 64?

Cheers Dude, it's loading the rest of the patches, upgrades now. In short to the vid, type assets/1_2_5/minecraft.jar in web browser, save the file when prompted, namechange it to minecraft_1.2.5.jar then copy this to your tekkitlauncher/cache directory then open the launcher and hit login, it should then work. I've got same error message. Launcher Version: 1.0.3.4 Operating System: Windows 8 oem Java Version: 7.10 Antivirus Program: Windows Defender Description of Problem: I can load up the program, but when i select tekkit and hit login, it says 'Update Failed'. Error Messages: Update failed Deleted TekkitLauncher in appdata to try to fix a graphics bug. Now I am unable to login via launcher. On closing and relaunching. Status bar shows Checking for Minecraft Update.... And I get error msg Update failed. Occurs with all the variations ie Vanilla, Yogscast, Technic. Same occurs after restarting pc. I've posted a warning on our forums (www.corporationcraft.com) to stop anyone from deleting launcher until this is fixed.
