Launcher Hangs On Logo

Description of Problem:

As the title implies, the Technic Launcher hangs once it displays the logo; will not progress past this point nor shut down no matter how long it's left-- have to manually kill the process running it.

Antivirus program:

Avira AntiVir

Note: I followed the steps listed in the 'COMMON PROBLEMS' thread and even went as far as reinstalling the versions of Java that appeared relevant (Java 6 and 7)-- nothing has worked. I do not believe my antivirus is at fault, as I have used the Technic launcher in the past without encountering this error and have done nothing to change my antivirus settings since it was working.

It's not downloading Minecraft - it's likely the minecraft.net servers are down. If this doesn't resolve itself in a day or so, you will need to double-check your AV. Also, you really don't need Java 6 or the 32-bit version of Java 7. I'd remove them, as they tend to cause conflicts if left installed.
