Splash screen freeze issue (NEED HELP BAD)

Description of Problem: Freezes during start up at the icon/splash screen

Antivirus program: Norton

Error Messages: N/A

I have reinstalled java, reinstalled the launcher, reinstalled minecraft and nothing. I really need help, thanks.

Norton is the likely culprit. Uninstall it or add an exception.

Tried using the .jar instead? What did you add an exception for - Java or the launcher?

uninstalling norton. It sometimes keeps its fingers in things even if there's an exception (sometimes even if it's off)
