VooDoo7 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Starting by today I am trying to build an interesting Modpack around the mods: Thaumcraft, Ars Magica and other Magic Mods. It will be for Minecraft Version 1.7.10 Therefore I would like to have suggestions for mods fitting to a world of magic, in which the player tries to achieve many kinds of magical powers, explores a world of beautyful enviromant and thrilling mysteries, while still having the possibility to build a great home with nice decorations and many different kinds of Materials. I don't want the pack to be identical to any existing. I tried many Modpacks containing Magic, like e.g. Magic World 2; Feed The Beast Infinity and many more which are less known than this big ones. Everytime I tried out another one something was missing. At this point I already decided on a certain ammount of Mods I am sure to use, which are usable by license on their Modpage. These are the mods: Thaumcraft Advanced Thaumaturgy Forbidden Magic Thaumic Bees Thaumic Exploration Thaumic Reliquary Thaumic Tinkerer Buildcraft Thaumcraft Gates Baubles Thaumcraft Magistics Thaumic Warden Thaumic Infusion Thaumcraft Mob Aspects Railcraft Better Storage Tonker's Construct Unique Artifacts Blood Magic Botania Mystical Trinkets Thaumic Integration Roguelike Dungeons Lycanite's Mobs Twilight Forrest Ars Magica Bibliocraft Biomes O' Plenty Highlands Forestry Extra Bees Extra Trees Genetics Botany Decocraft Fastcraft Harvestcraft Animals + As for other possible mods I would like to have suggestions of people who also like playing in a magical Minecraft with lots of mysteries and much to discover. I am excited to read your Answers. Edited March 12, 2015 by VooDoo7 Quote
MrKRONIC Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 all of these fit the magic side of a modpackfor sure, but we need a tech aswell sir, if you would like to form a team with my community your more then welcome, this will help with server costs as we already provide a powerful server. we hope to see you soon. Torezu Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Doomlike Dungeons DartCraft Chococraft Chocolate Quest (Better Dungeons) Ruins Floating Ruins (reduce spawn rate unless you like floating islands everywhere) Mo' Creatures (large, heavy on memory) Natura Special Mobs/Utility Mobs/Lava Monsters (use caution with Special Mobs, the AI can make creature-spawning mods server-unfriendly) BigTrees (memory-heavy) Battle Towers EnderIO (some aspects) Why Buildcraft? That doesn't seem to fit with the "magical" theme. If you're going to put that in, you might as well add Thermal Foundation/Expansion/Dynamics and a bunch of other stuff with a tech theme, and just make it another kitchen sink pack. A word on Roguelike Dungeons: Especially when combined with some other mods that change how spawning works, they will lock even a good server solid with the spawning. They must be configured correctly to keep that from happening. Quote

The creator DR.Zhark does not want it in modpacks. Buildcraft is still pending for actual use. I want it to have a better storage of the thaumcraft aspects. All other blocks, which wouldn't be needed, would be removed. If you know anything, that would make Buildcraft unnecessary, please tell me. Thanks for the hint to roguelike dungeons. didn't have that in mind, even I knew i would have to configure the compatibility of Highlands and Biomes o' plenty, so they would work together. Quote
Lethosos Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Three more Thaumcraft addons for you to take a peek at: Thaumic Horizons, Thaumic Infusion, and Witching Gadgets. (Do get Travelers Gear as well, that really expands Baubles.) Also, Sanguimancy and Blood Utilities are worth looking at. (There's a third BM addon I'm watching, but it's not mature enough to use ATM.) Quote
VooDoo7 Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 Thank you for all your replies to my reqest. I will start the configuration on wednesday. My current goal is to complete it until March 24th. It would be lovely if you could also tell me your preferences for texture packs, so i can look into compatibility there. p.s. will set up a mod-list when figured out, what to actually take. Quote
