Launcher cannot connect to minecraft.net, only launches in offline mode

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: Win 7 Ultimate x64

Java Version: 7

Antivirus Program: When starting up the technic launcher, about 9 times out of 10 it can't connect to minecraft.net even though my internet is connected strong and minecraft.net is up. This results in having only offline mode as an option unless I keep closing and opening the program hoping to get that 10% chance of connection.

It's been working, but last night it had a major meltdown again. Why is it that the launcher can't reach minecraft.net when technicpack.net is down?? This seems like a huge design flaw.

This should hopefully settle down in the future. The new web site is far more stable and bandwidth-capable, from what I've seen. If you have issues with connection and you're convinced minecraft.net is fine, please take it up with the admins on this site.

I'm having this same problem, asking me if I want to run in offline mode now, but I did that last night and lost a whole day's worth of inventory when I got back online. What is happening and why can't it connect?

well, then is there a way to play ssp without losing my inventory when it comes back online? (btw, I've also got thaumcraft, millenaire and a few more mods on top of the hexxit pack.)

If you're playing offline, you'll be called "Player". Once you log on, you'll have your actual name back and will load your actual playerdata file which contains your inventory.

I don't mind if I end up duplicating my items, i can correct that using creative, but can I place my current inventory into a chest before I start playing online again and it will be saved?

Yes, the world file's not changing. If you ever log back in in offline mode, your "Player" will be exactly as you left it.
