Cannot open launcher with jar or exe

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: 64 bit Windows 7

Java Version: Java 7 update 5 64 and 32 bit

Antivirus Program: Norton

Description of Problem:

Whenever i tried to open the exe i get the checking launcher version and then it goes away i tried updating java like stated in the sticky and when that didn't work i tried the jar which when i try to open with Java the command prompt opens then closes before i can read the message id appreciate any help

You know, player 1, the people here have been trying to help, but you've come across only as "I know what I'm doing, LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!1!eleven! Oh, and BTW, I want your help!" The likely problem is AVG. AVG is great, but honestly, it has almost as many false positives as McAfee or Norton. Try avast! free antivirus, it's quite good.

Edit: Also, outdated? The dev builds are 1.2.5, using the latest Minecraft Forge, 4096 fix, and everything! They're just a button press away!

Eh, no. Last time I checked, Equivalent exchange, mo creatures, and even most others were outdated, missing a lot of key bug fixes and updates.

Dude, I have a short attention span when it comes to working on something, but thats only when it is worth it. So, I tried. The launcher just hates me. And being as I last saw Technic pack with several tons of glitches, and even freezing up at multiple moments, I decided to give up, and do it the hard way, which turned out to be the easier way. No more am I fooling with mod packs, I'll just get the mods.

And why are you hating? I've done nothing to you, or shown off.

I'm not hating on anyone, just telling you how you look. And, like I said, the Development builds. They're what most people are using. And a short attention span isn't something to brag about. :P

Heres a list of everything ive tried so far

reinstall and update java

tried to see if spoutcraft would work and it did in only exe

added java to the path

tried SDK version of java

run jar with java SE binary

run exe

update drivers

and basically thats all ive tried and none worked

i really want to play this and have been trying to get it to work over a week now total so please help

i found the error and this is what it says completely

This most likely means you don't have Java installed or pathed correctly. You really need to provide pictures or something at this point, since it appears you've done everything correctly.
