my launcher freezes at the technic launcher banner PLEASE HELP

Launcher Version: I dont know because i cant get to the login screen

Operating System: windows 64 bit

Java Version: 7u4 64 bit

Antivirus Program: none

Description of Problem:

when I run the technic launcher program it says "checking launcher version..." for about a second then the banner with "Technic launcher" opens then it just freezes at that and i have to go to task manager to end java.exe.

Run with the launcher .jar instead - see if that helps. Oh, and double check to make sure your firewall isn't blocking the launcher.
