Title: Used to be able to host, but can't anymore

Version: 3.0.3/3.0.4

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Java Version: Java Version: 1.6.0_33 from Sun Microsystems Inc

Description of Problem:

I've been hosting a small server for just me and my friend for a week or so now and the other day it stopped working for him. When he connects it says: Failed to connect to the server. Connection timed out: connect

Things you should know:

-I'm running the server over hamachi

-When I run a vanilla server over hamachi he CAN connect

-If I host on my other computer I can connect to it, but he can't

-If I host on my computer, my other computer can't connect when using tekkit

Any help? It might not even be a tekkit problem, but seeing as I can host a regular server I'm assuming it is.

There are 2 high-probability items:

1) You're running the server on Java 6. For whatever reason it doesn't like that. Less likely.

2) An AV or firewall is blocking the connection/launcher/whatever for some reason.

There are 2 very low-probability item (these are mostly for humor's sake):

1) The free version of Hamachi is limited to 5 users. If you add a 6th user to the network, it locks the whole thing until you either upgrade or remove one of them.

2) 3) Your internet/network is somehow damaged, only for Tekkit.

But it worked before and I haven't installed any new antivirus programs or anything so why would it just randomly start blocking it? I doubt its the java because I can connect to the server on the computer I'm hosting it on. My hamachi network is not full and the second silly one is probably impossible.

I'd also like to mention that I tried downloading the tekkit server and starting a new map, so I don't think the jar/map corrupted somehow.

Whats your upload speed do a speed test... if its below 2mpbs you got a problem, i found that tekkit servers use up alot of bandwidth... so your server can be up and running but players wont be able to connect because of your slow upload speed, vanilla servers are not as needy.

2091584392.pngIts slower than you suggest, but I'm only hosting for me and my cousin so I don't think I need much. Also, he was on it before and I haven't changed my internet provider or anything so I seriously doubt that the upload speed is the problem.

your upload speed varies on the time of day... depending on your provider, it can go to 2+mbps when theres no traffic (at noon there's high traffic) the only reason im saying this is because you are able to connect while your friends cant.. which means you can connect because your on the local network your upload is as high as your download.. especially if you try a speed connection to your friends location your upload will be lower and ping will be higher.

My friend lives literally a mile or two away. We've tried connected at all times of the day. Also, my other computer that is in the same house can't connect to the server either.

I could still use some help. I also updated to 3.1.2 and that didn't help, but now my flying ring requires fuel so that sucks.

Hmm what it could be is an hamchi update changing how things work i know there have been a few fairly recently anyhow. Are you using the ip hamchi is giving you? and is that IP in your server preferences listed as the IP for the server? Also a firewall reference hamachi may be being blocked by the firewall check your antivirus in case it is and unblock it if its the case. Also tekkit is memory hungry if there isn't enough memory to feed the beast then it wont start. Ahh is your friend on the hamchi network as a listed user and does he have hamachi open when joining? Is the on the same version as your server? Are you on the same version as the server? Is there a issue or a glitch causing the server not to boot up or kick clients off when joining? Is there an issue with his network joining yours or an issue with his client stopping him from joining you. So many things could be wrong more detail is needed.

http://pastebin.com/abbMZUcE I believe that is it? I've been playing on the server by myself.

I'm using the ip hamachi is giving me. The ip is listed as the ip for the server in my preferences. I've tried with all my firewalls off. Its starting fine and I'm connected to it playing, but my friend can't join. My friend is listed on the hamachi network and hamachi is open when he tries to join. We are all using the same versions. The server boots up fine and I can join, but he can't. I don't know what the issue is. You should read the main post because it seems like you just skimmed it.

Well i had a look through that there is a few issues when joining for you anyhow corrupted chunk maybe? Try and get someone else Apart from him to join the server using the same methods if they can the problem is on his end and not yours.

Ah I forgot to mention I did have another friend try to join and he couldn't, so its likely me.

Oh and I don't think its a chunk error because I tried on a fresh map and he couldn't join either.

I'm thinking this could be a firewall issue that is stopping people from accessing? Make sure that all your Tekkit stuff is allowed threw the firewall or disable it?
