Description of Problem:

When i try to go on my server it says end of stream.

I feel like an idiot saying this but what does ping mean?

It means the very basic of network analysis... Never mind.

Can you get on minecraft.net with a browser like Internet explorer.

Ok. What I looks like to my layman eyes is that it's trying to confirm your username on minecraft.net but it receives either nothing or gibberish back.

Since Internet explorer can read the site, I am inclined to think your java installation is the culprit. Would you mind trying to deinstall it and try again installing the latest version from java.com?

Again i feel like such a computer noob but i looked up how to uninstall java but none were very clear if you could tell me how too or even just link me to a site that can. Thanks!

I googled it for you. This was the first hit when I used the term 'uninstall program windows'.

I have re-installed Java 7 but now when I run the Tekkit launcher it says "Checking for Tekkit updates" and then crashes

After a long time or after a short time?

I click log in it says connecting to minecraft.net for about 3 seconds then it goes on to checking for Tekkit update and freezes for about 5 seconds then a new window opens just called tekkit but it almost instantly closes.

OP: Are you sure your server and client versions match?

I feel really stupid saying this but I don't really know what that means (i'm only 12) does it have something to do with the server cause if it does i cant do much cause the launcher crasher.
