windmills

Ok, so, I've recently tried to construct a rig to utilize wind power. After reading over a few forums and video tutorials, along with several attempts to follow their builds, my windmill setup is still not working.

 

I have come to realize that this is because they are not high enough (and hopefully not because of the adjacent wires). Setting aside this bit of stupidity (no offense, I just think that making these machines work this way makes them virtually worthless), my question is this: are they still programmed to break if they're too high up?

 

Also, here's a screenshot of my most recent attempt at a rig:

 

Never mind. apparently my screen shot is too large to upload. it's a basic structure extending away from my energy containment unit then going up a ways, finally ending in a cross shape with wind mills on each end.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
