First time user needs a little guidance :)

Hi Everyone,

Ive been modding Minecraft since it first came out so I have a good knowledge, but servers are a bit different.

I have downloaded Tekkit_Server_3.1.2 and I can see thats the whole shabang right there, but what do I need to download for my client side?

I understand this will still be 1.2.5 which I have saved, but what and where do I get the client part so I can connect to my server.

Well, you seem like a generally nice guy so I'll help you out. First, open up your Technic Launcher. Go to "Options" it should be next to your login information. Chosse "Manual Build Selection." Scroll up until you see the 3.1.2 client version. Click on it than click "Ok," after that, login. When it asks you if you want to update hit "Yes" then wait for everything to download and you should be able to connect. Good Luck!

I got the TechnicLauncher.exe, ran in from my desktop, it went through a couple of things but then finished and I have no Icon etc?

Just a bit confused where youve said "open up your Technic Launcher. Go to Options"... All I have is an exe file?

Open up your TechnicLauncher.exe, if you feel the need, also put a shortcut on your desktop.

Sorry didnt realise about the signing.

I cant open up the exe, I have tried double clicking and also r/click open and all I get is a small window saying checking versions, then its gone and im back at my desktop?

Is it supposed to give me a gui or something?

What type of antivirus are you running?

Nothing at the moment, but I use Avast! when I want to scan things.

Its not being blocked by anything it just runs that checking versions, across to 100% then pop, nothing.

Well, Avast! is usually good with the Technic Launcher. Do you have Java 7? If so, make sure that it's matched up with your computer. You can't have Java 32-bit with a 64-bit computer, and vice-versa.

Im using Java 1.7.0_0.4 so im very much at a loss as to why it doesnt work for me, everything else runs fine

Is there a way to mod my jar /mods folder manually, as I said ive been modding MC for years.
