Geothermal generator - Help?

So the problem with geothermal generator is that when i transport lava cells from iron chest to generator, the pipes put the cells in top where the battery is supposed to be, am i doing something wrong or what?

The pipe would have to enter the generator from the bottom, not the top or side. It's the same with things like furnaces or macerators.
