No modpacks work?

chahud42

Question

I'm using a Dell Precision T3400 with Windows 7 installed. It has 4GB of RAM, and an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz. When i install the launcher, it works fine. I can log on and browse it and change settings. When i try to install modpacks, it seems that the installation works just fine. However when i try to run any pack, it completely breaks. It changes for each pack sometimes, but in the end it doesn't work still. For example, if i try to run Tekkit Classic, it almost works; the window for tekkit opens, but it stays white indefinitely. Once closed, the launcher reappears. However, if i try to run Blightfall, the launcher disappears, and then reappears shortly after. I have not been able to find a modpack that works, it does one of the two, no matter how much RAM i dedicate to it. Is there a way to fix this?

Download and install the appropriate drivers for your graphics card.

Thanks for your response. For my NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290, i downloaded Quadro/NVS/Tesla/GRID Desktop Driver 334.95. Tekkit works fine now, Blightfall has changed, but still doesn't work. Launches, black screen, then it crashes. Is it possible i need more than one driver to resolve it?

EDIT: Here's the most recent log for Blightfall: http://paste.ubuntu.com/12636054/. Not sure if this will say anything.

I don't see a problem in that log.

I have this same issue When playing tekkit legends I click the play button and the launcher hides itself a couple seconds later it reappears and nothing has launched I need help :(

99% that you have a different issue. Make a thread in the appropriate section and include a log (as a link to paste.ubuntu.com)

Hm.. any ideas on what could be making it crash then? I didn't expect it to show a problem in the log because the app launches, but it just stays black and doesn't respond. Launching with more RAM doesn't help either.

heres a third log http://pastebin.com/tcrKidYW

Bryce, make your own thread, please.

Can I have a new, fresh log? Lets try one more time.

Here's a log from the startup of the launcher, to the launching of Blightfall: http://paste.ubuntu.com/12650291/

Also here's a log from the blightfall "logs" folder titled "latest" if it may help:http://paste.ubuntu.com/12650324/

That log looks like:

1. You didn't paste the whole log. Check your log's end part with that one you uploaded. Is it really the entire log?

2. The game is running fine but you don't see it or you're not patient enough and you're forcing it to close.

Pick one of those two options.

I'm not entirely sure but there was also a mention somewhere on the mods related sites about old/legacy graphic cards not working properly with minecraftforge and/or cofhcore (which are both in blightfall). Don't quote me on that last one.

It is the whole log. It's possible I was just too impatient, but it does not respond. I will try to keep it open to see if it fixes itself over time. If not, i guess I'm screwed, unless I get a new graphic card! Lol
