Launcher checks for updates and then crashes

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1

Java Version: Version 7 Update 5

Antivirus Program: Microsoft Security Essentials

Description of Problem:

Technic Launcher checks for updates and downloads the jar file but then just crashes and then closes with no error message. I check the process in Windows Task Manager and it just vanishes for no apparent reason.
