Problem with players names

Hi.

Recently I've discovered this problem. If you change any letter in your name to lower or upper case, the server will generate new .dat file in world folder.

Lets say my name is smith.

If I login with "smith", I got smith.dat

If I login with "Smith" I got Smith.dat

But all it's the same, same home, money, ... only the inventory is different.

I downloaded whole server on my computer and there was no such bug.

This happen only in this folder (world/players), but not in plugins folder, such as Essentials.

That means, player has the same amount of money, same home, but different inventory and xp.

Good thing the Technic launcher retains login info, so this doesn't show up much. Could see this causing a little trouble though.

Question: What OS is the server running on? I haven't noticed this problem in Windows, so are you running an OS that's more case-sensitive?

I know that Linux has the issue. I maintain a copy of my server on my local PC and when backing files up, I run into this every once in awhile and fix it manually.

I guess it's a Linux ... I've already contacted the support, but haven't done anything yet ... (perhaps they can't)
