Some tekkit ores are not smelting in the furnace

Description of Problem:

I went mining with a silk touch pick axe and I put all the Ruby,sapphire and emerald ores in the furnace but nothing happens! Is this a bug?

I think they are not supposed to be smelted, place them down and break them.

This is also true of diamond, redstone, coal, nikolite, and lapis ore, at least. You can use Silk Touch to pick them up (not sure I'd try that on Nikolite), but they're useful only for decoration until you place and break them.
