Description of Problem:

I have minecraft 1.3 and i wanted to try Tekkit. So i downloaded the launcher updated my java (i don't know how to find out which version I have) This has happened even when i had 2.5 of minecraft, and i start the launcher but when it comes up with "Checking launcher version" It doesn't load it just exits the window. I Found someones forum about it having an error when it opens and closes quickly but I never get an error. All i get is that it shows up then exits without doing anything. Is this because they are trying to get it working with 1.3? Cause I have no clue what is going on. All i did is download then launcher and clicked on it and pressed RUN so i can get it running.

I know some other people who couldnt get the exe to start it either including me. My suggestion: use the jar

I have absolutely no idea what you mean. I am new to all the mods and stuff.

Instead of downloading the .exe for windows, download the .jar launcher made for linux and use it the same way.

So downloading the .jar for linux will work for my windows computer? I dont have linux or Ubuntu

Yep it will work u dont need linux for jars, just java. And you should already have that for minecraft anyway

IT WORKED! but its laggy as well... I am trying to get my settings down. That is good now i need to get off a browser and skype in order to play laggy free/less.
