Launcher Version: Latest (august 26 2012)

Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit

Java Version: Java 6 update 31

Antivirus Program:

Description of Problem:

Whenever I start the launcher it shows "Can't find java directory." What is the best place to put the/a java folder and what is the java folder called?

There is 2 program file folders. One is called Program files and the other Program files (x86) (because i have a 64 bit computer)

Please help. I really want to play some mods.

Error Messages:

"Checking Launcher Version"

"Can't find java directory."

IMO the best way to fix this is to first uninstall all versions of java (even the latest one), reboot your computer and then re-install *only* the latest version. It should find the path then.

Older versions of Java (which you are guaranteed to have (plus you are saying that you use an older version in your OP: "Java Version: Java 6 update 31")) messes up the path stuff. jre7 fixed that. Even on 2008 servers.

Hint: The latest version is as if writing this "Java 7, update 5 (64-bit)"

*** For the love of ponies, please make sure you install the 64-bit version if you have a 64-bit OS and only the 32-bit version if you for some reason have a 32-bit OS ***
