Cant Play Technic, Tekkit, Yogbox, etc.

Operating System: mac osx

Java Version: java 32 bit

Antivirus Program: mac has auto antivirus

Description of Problem:

when i open up tekkit which is what i always play and click on the 3.0.3 recomended. it logs in but none of the mods get loaded. its just normal vanilla. when i try playing any version lower than 1.2.5 it says "Update Failed"

I try with the other mod packs and it does the same thing.

how do i fix it?

Wrong version of java or Anti-Virus program blocks it

Just because it says "latest" in the file name doesn't mean it is. Try getting a new launcher. Also, if you firmly believe Macs have an "auto" antivirus, you're in for a rude shock.
