Can't get the launcher to work! Trying for months now and I can't get it to work.

Operating System: Windows Xp 32 bit

Java Version: 7u5

Antivirus Program: Avast

Description of Problem:

This is taking me forever! I can't get it to work! I try and open the .jar with Java SE Binary, and it just flashes and nothing happens, then I try all this other random stuff people tell me to do and none of that works! My computer is really messed up cause there's all this random junk on it and I don't know what to use to open this thing!

Error Messages:

None, except when I open it with Java Web Start Laucher (?!?)

Maybe your computer will work better if you remove all this random junk.
