windows xp launcher problem

Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP3

Java Version: 7. update 7

Antivirus Program: Trend Micro Internet Security 2012

Description of Problem:

When I download the launcher and open it for the first time it says its downloading launcher, but when thats done and I try to open it again, It says 'checking launcher version' and then it closes.

I have tried every suggestion possible and have also tried the linux/jar install file instead and I have followed all java suggestions but it still wont work.

Also going to %appdata% then 'technic launcher', the only file in there is the .jar itself. nothing else. Yet in all videos i've seen there is meant to be more files....

I had this problem on Windows before, but i've fixed it by downloading the linux jar file (technic laucher) at http://www.technicpack.net/download/

i stated that i have tried the linux/jar as well. that wouldnt work either

Disable your antivirus while downloading the files, alot of antivirus programs will block the download.

i have tried that, there is no problems downloading the files. the launcher is there. but it wont run. and the linux/jar file is an unknown file and when i try open it with java it wont work at all. i black box shows up for 1 second then closes automatically.
