Launcher won't open, stuck on logo

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: Latest

Operating System: Windows 7 64bit

Java Version: 7

Antivirus Program: Norton 360

Description of Problem:

After downloading the Technic Launcher and opening it, it comes up as loading and then after that the logo on the Technic Launcher with the tools above it appears and stays in the centre of the screen. Nothing else happens after this, it does not open and the only way to remove the logo is to restart my laptop. I have tried uninstalling the launcher and my java software countless times and tried many of the suggestions on other posts but nothing seems to work.

This same thing just happened to me! I use the same operating system and the same version of java, but when I used the default installation it would get stuck! and when i tried to do it again, it would say that the files couldn't be accessed because they were in use (probably by whatever is running the logo) So i logged off and installed 64 bit java, and then ran the default one. it installed a file right away, but all it has is _MACOSX and Technic Launcher.app I dont know what the heck these do, so I used the windows one. this time it WORKED! BUT, it got stuck on the logo! in fact I am typing with the logo above my text box! if anyone can help us please leave a reply!

Yeah I'm dealing with the exact same problem, nobody appears to know what to do, If anyone knows please tell us.

Edit: Also if you want to get rid of launcher i recommend using Ctrl Atl Del to access your task manager from there, it should be the java.exe, just end the process

You have to install java 6. Perhaps you have java 7 and that's fail :). Also jou have to download the techniclauncher.JAR, NOT .EXE.

I fixed mine! I have no idea what in the world I did, ill just name a few,

I installed 64 bit java

I got a batch file off the forums (I dont think this did anything, I didnt even place it anywhere)

I Extracted the files once it FINALLY loaded 2 files (do not think this did much either)

I used linux/JAR download button (I think this did the most)

once i clicked on the download for linux, (Just letting you know I have a Windows operated ASUS laptop) it flashed the logo, then opened the launcher! I dont know if this helps any, but still!

OP and only OP: try disabling Norton long enough for the launcher to run and download the mod pack of your choice. The rest of you? Get your own thread(s).
