Randomly Occuring FPS lag spikes

Title: Randomly Occuring FPS lag spikes

Version: 3.1.2

OS: Windows 7 x64

Java Version: 7

Description of Problem:

Playing this offline on my own world and started having problems after a few hours of playing. My fps goes from 35 or so down to 10 or often less. If I then change my graphics settings, for example from fancy to fast (OR vice versa) the lag goes away for a minute or two and then returns.

The game has become unplayable since I have to change the graphics settings every few minutes (either up or down). Yes I've tried running it on minimal settings.

Got 8Gb of RAM of which half is normally used so I give tekkit either 1.5 or 2 which I assume is enough. Although I have tried closing all other background processes to give myself 6GB Ram free and then allocating tekkit 4GB - Nothing changes.

Searched google for anyone else with the same problem but only found one guy who's tekkit inexplicably repared itself. Yes I've tried uninstalling it and clearing caches.

Not sure if any of the error logs would help but if they would then tell me what to loom for and I'll C&P it in.

Thanks

While this is obviously a problem, there is nothing distinctive in your report to narrow it down.

Lag can be notoriously difficult to get rid of.

Here are three simple things you can try that might help.

If you have an integrated graphics card java might be running off that instead of your regular graphics card.

Google "run java on graphics card minecraft" and try that.

Go into your task manager/processes and right click on java/set priority and set it too high.

Go into the NEI options and disable item drops to see if you have lots of floating items somewhere. You dont want to play with this off, so if it isnt the problem turn them back on.

These are just ideas that might help a bit, no guarantee that they will fix your problem.

I also just roughly outlined how to do them, if you need more specific instructions just ask.
