y401 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Hey everyone, I currently have an out of the box-Tekkit Server running on a machine at home. Somehow, after working just fine for a couple of days, it started acting all weird in terms of loading the landscape when I play on it.(I'm not using the word "chunk" here on purpose) It somehow only loads the stuff I'm directly looking at or am moving towards to. The "view range" I get differs greatly. Sometimes it's about 4 chunks away, sometimes it's only loading if i walk right into the missing part. I can also just stand in a spot for hours without anything loading right in front of me. This is a good example of what looks like. I logged in over at the rubber trees and flew a U-turn to my current position. Notice that it doesn't even load an entire chunk, but only the surface, or a few blocks into the ground. I've tried re-downloading the server software and created a new world, re-downloaded my client (which works fine on other servers) and had others join the server to see if it's just me. Nothing made any difference. It is probably not a bandwidth issue, as I have a decent connection and everything that actually ends up loading, does it pretty smoothly. I've also hosted Tekkit servers without any problems before. Same with my server specs. Has anyone of you ever had this problem? I'd really appreciate any kind of help. Quote
Watchful11 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 2 things i can think of to try, 1, do the chunks show up on rei's minimap? if they do its a rendering problem, not a loading problem. 2, if they do try going into video settings and change some setting, then change it back. This forces the game to re-render the world. Quote
y401 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Thank you for your answer. You're probably right about it being a rendering issue, but doesn't this make it a client-side issue? As I mentioned, I'm not the only one experiencing this and it's only on this server. I could be wrong though, don't know much about this stuff. As for your suggestions: The minimap looks just fine and changing video setting (eg rendering distance) does change stuff, but it unfortunately doesn't make it any better, just different. Do you have an idea how to tackle this problem? Quote
Watchful11 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Honestly not really, I'm pretty sure MC 1.3.2 fixes most rendering issues, but i don't know how to fix it in 1.2.5. Only thing i can think of is mess around with the video settings. Edit: If you go off a ways from your base does this still happen? maybe there's something in your base causing the problem. Quote
y401 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 I tested it again and although i'm sure that a fresh world i created yesterday was exactly the same, I was now able to pinpoint the cause on my redpower sorting system. Removed the redstone repeaters, switched rendering distance to reload stuff -> everything was fine. Trying to pinpoint if I built something incredibly stupid there or if it's a general problem with tubes now. Thank you very much for your help, Watchful11. Quote
