cannot allocate more then 1.5gb RAM

i have 4gb of ram on my system, 3gb usable, yet i cannot allocate more the 1.5gb to tekkit. my system is 84x (32bit) and i have the corrasponding java installed. i have already tried to delete and reinstall everything and it dose not work. i am using the exe launcher. can you manualy allocate memory if you use the jar and a bat? if so, how do i write the bat?

32 bit OS's can only use up to 4GB, but even that is tough and depending on your exact specs your OS may only be able to see 3-3.5GB. If you're on windows you're then further limited to kernel and userspace splits, which, again on windows is usually right down the middle, hence the 1.5GB usable.

All of these issues disappear when you use a 64bit OS, which is the only way to access more of the memory

Well I found that if i set the memory in the app options, it does not work (set mine for 8gb and it sets it for 1.5 in game. I had to go in and change it in one of the files. but if i go into the options and change it there after that, i have to change it again in that file. I can't rmember the name of the file off the top of my head, but I did find how to do it in a search of the forum (and i run a 64bit os)

There is your problem. 32 Bit is very limiting when it comes to RAM allocation. In this case it is just your systems issues.

If you have a 64 bit OS< then you need to install a 64 bit version of Java too.
