Update Failed

Whenever I try to install Technic Pack or any of the mods it seems to get to a random number and say update failed in the progress bar. it does not give any errors or anything it simply says update failed. I have also read many of the posts and have not found anything like my problem.

If you didn't read this sticky before posting just now, I don't have high hopes that you checked the rest for possible solutions. I have an idea of what your problem might be, but I'm not going to waste time guessing. Help me help you.

Aaaah sorry i read that but forgot the stuff.

32bit Windows 7

Reinstalled Java 6 32 bit again

and i cannot get a error report because its not even in the Roaming file

Antivirus? What Antivirus do you use.

AVG free sorry im sick so not very coherent but i have it all set up to be exceptions so that shouldnt be a factor

I had a feeling you were going to say AVG. It's been discussed a lot, and AVG is notorious for blocking anything it doesn't recognize without telling you it's doing so. AVG is also kinda a crappy antivirus program. If it's your personal computer I'd suggest finding a different antivirus. There's some great free options like Microsoft Security Essentials (what I use) or Avast.

If it's a family computer and you don't have a say in the antivirus used, then you'll have to dig very hard into AVG to make sure it's not blocking techinc. Try shutting down AVG completely. Firewalls and everything, just shut it right down, then run the launcher again. Tell me what happens. Hopefully it will run.

Thank you kind sir turns out AVG was blocking the error report for some stupid reason but thank you and i will be sure to look into a better AV

thanks man had the same problem after installing it on 2 other pcs fine as this is the only one with avg i found out what to do from here: http://forums.avg.com/gb-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=172537
