How do i make a local server creative?

I made a server a week or so back and im about to use it but i want to get a head start and cheat in some items can anyone tell me how to change it to creative or enable NEI.

NEI can be activate by pressing o

By default it is on cheat mode so when you click you get the item.

In the left bottom is a buttom called options.

Click that.

Search for a bottum that say: Cheat mode, Recipe mode or Untily mode.

Cheat mode = what is says, when you click a item you get a stack of them

Recipe mode = when thats on and you click a item you will get the recipe.

Untily mode(or something like that) = no idea what that does

You have to be op if that wasn't apparent. You can also change your gamemode to creative with "/gamemode <player> <0/1>"

If you want the server to be creative by default, then change the config file "server.properties" so that it reads "gamemode=1".

that dosent seem to work I have NEI enabled and on cheat mode but when I clike on something it just gives me the recipe ill have to try again later

As I said, you have to be OP before you can use the NEI cheat mode. Go to the console and type "op <your-nick>" or add your nick to ops.txt and restart the server.
