Minecraft.jar does not load

Operating System: Windows 8 On HP 2009m

Java Version: Java Update 7 (64-bit)

Antivirus Program: AVG 2011 (I already tried logging in by turning off the firewall)

Description of Problem:

Every time I would try to login is shows a bar with a percentage and minecraft.jar. But it would freeze at a certain percentage and I would not be able to login.

Uninstall AVG and see if that works. If not, check for any other firewalls or something that could be blocking access to the web.
