Server Error: Can't Reach Server

Question

Title: Server Error: Can't Reach Server

Version: 3.1.2

OS: Windows 7 Pro (SP1) x64

Java Version: 1.7.0_07

Description of Problem:

Server is running, but when trying to connect to external IP address I get "Can't reach server." Connecting to the internal IP address works fine. Searching the forums reveals similar problems, but most answers involve port forwarding. I have port forwarding enabled and functioning.

Using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ I can see that 25565 IS open and I know it's being forwarded to the right machine, because I can watch the tekkit server's console and see each time I use the port tester:

[iNFO] /69.163.149.200:34622 lost connection.

I have also added an exception in windows firewall to allow all 25565 traffic and to allow JAVA. But again, the tester can get through, so why can't a client?

Any suggestions?

I tried this from a different network last night and when I added the server, I was able to see that 0/20 were connected as opposed to 'Can't Reach Server'. However, when trying to connect to the server, I would immediately get an "End of Stream" error and get thrown back to the main screen.

Watching the server console, no errors were shown, but I got the same "[iNFO] /ipaddress:port lost connection." for each attempt I made.

i don't believe you will be able to connect using your own external IP, you will need to use the internal IP to connect, and have other ppl test your external IP for connectivity

first thing try to full disable the windows firewall and then try a connection again, if you are able to connect then you know it is a problem with the firewall itself

you may also want to try and make an exception in the firewall for the server itself and not just a port

you should be able to connect using your outside ip if things are forwarded correctly and no firewall is blocking you
