when i log in and the update/downlad bar shows up the domnload rune up to 8-19% then stops and says "download failed" in the bar

You Antivirus is ruining everything. Trust me.

Go and get something better for you, like Avast!, or even Microsoft Security Essentials, both for free.

Both are very good at catching stuff that may sneak up on you, and provide immunisation faster than many paid programs.

Agreed. OP: If you don't want to get a new antivirus (you should) you need to turn off your antivirus while you download the pack.
